Orkney

Up early and off to see the sights which mostly lie on the X1 bus route. First off the Italian Chapel. Get there before it opens. Opens after 5 minutes and I have the place to myself. Back on the X1 and off to Maeshowe burial tomb.
Get off bus where Google maps indicates. I can see the tomb at the side of the road and a sign saying Visitor Centre 1 mile away. What's the point of that? Tomb is disappointing as there is a little cked grill across the entrance.
About 2 km away are the Stones of Stennen and Barnhouse neolithic village. About 2 km further is the ring of Dogmar . Very impressive stone circle which is very wide.Meer informatie
