• Bergen, Disembarkation Day

    This morning, we disembarked the Neptune, marking the end to the British to Norway cruise. The Neptune has been our home away from home over the previous four months. (We loved it!)

    Most of our luggage was already loaded on our bus, which would eventually take us to our hotel in Bergen but not till after we visited two museums: the old and new Bergen museums.

    The first, modern museum depicted the old Bergen, beset by devastating fires over the last 1000 years, The second museum depicted a typical town street with homes and businesses from yesteryear that we actually entered, enabling us to imagine what it was like to live in Norway hundreds of years ago. We stayed for a little play put on for us visitors in the courtyard of the Gamle Bergen Museum. showing the interplay between the inhabitants old Norway.

    One snafu: Cathy and I got so engrossed in the "dentistry" inflicted on the town dwellers that we missed the bus back to the hotel! We caught a cab to our Hotel Norge (centrally located in Bergen), so little came of it other than a reminder about watching the time!
