Da Nang is the 3rd largest city of Vietnam.

This morning, we are off to Cham Ancient Temples at My Son and later, the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture.

The Cham architectural remains were deep in the jungles and truly amazing.

In the museum, the recovered sculptures date from the 7th to the 15th centuries, made from materials like sandstone, terracotta, and bronze.

We finished off the day with a Silversea dinner and boat ride in a highly westernized section of Hoi An featuring many prominent hotel/resort brands.

Tonight, we sail to Ho Chi Minh City, arriving February 3.Read more

Ho Chi Minh City, Day Two

Today, we were scheduled for a Vegan Foodie Excursion.
But people came to their senses, so it was canceled.

The "money shot" for Ho Chi Minh City is

JP took the long bus ride to the Ben Thanh Market just to wander around for a couple of hours. What a place; vendors occasionally reaching out to grab you.

At 6pm we did a "Night in Saigon" excursion, where we visited the Majestic Hotel, on the Saigon River, enjoying a beautiful local dance routine, then we had a nice, multicourse Vietnamese dinner at the Mandarine Restaurant.Read more

We sailed into Singapore at 8am and readied for an excursion that included a foot reflexology treatment (well, a little foot massage), and a visit to a Chinese medicine doctor who read the pulse of our guide, explaining what he was 'reading' in the pulse. This excursion was about a 3.5 out of 10...

Then, in the evening, all the World Cruisers were escorted to the 57-story Marina Bay Resort, where we were treated to magnificent views of the city, amid a scrumptious, vast array of "street food", dancing, light shows, etc. Wow!Read more

Today, our first excursion in Thailand was at 9:15am to the Laguna Resort, located about one hour north, to enjoy the awesome beach and lunch... and shopping.

Trincomalee, Sri Lanka

Trincomalee is located on the eastern coast of Sri Lanka and is the 5th largest harbor in the world. In "Trinco," we selected a 4.5hr morning excursion, "Temples and Places in Trincomalee".

We started our coach ride through the gates of Fort Jafra and on to the oldest Hindu temple in Sri Lanka, the Temple of Konessaram. A giant Shiva statue, the auspicious one, sits at the entryway to the temple. Devotees, incense, and chanting provided a wonderful sensory backdrop to this journey. Interesting side note: domesticated deer were all about the grounds.

Koneswaram Temple of Trincomalee is a classical-medieval Hindu temple complex in Trincomalee, a Hindu religious pilgrimage center in Eastern Province, Sri Lanka.

We then drove over unpaved and uneven roads to an ancient site of Buddhust temple ruins, Velgam Vehera, where we walked, seeing monkeys, peacocks, and ruins including a standing Buddha statue.Read more

We both did pedicures today. Just enjoying the leisurely cruise...about 6.5 knots, perfect weather, calm seas.

First impression of Sri Lanka: flat!

Today is "bush day" in the wilderness! It's going to be a long day, starting at 8am. Hh We are taking the "Day at the Udawalawe National Park With Lunch" 8hr tour, which included a day safari and a visit to the Elephant Transit Home.

After a two-hour coach, we took a wild ride in a covered jeep truck carrying seven of us throughout the bush where we saw mongoose, a variety of birds including bee-eaters, water buffalo, crocodiles, peacocks, p-hens, and Asian elephants (adults and babies!!).

Then we headed to a 'transit' home for baby elephants. It was wonderful to see the dozens of critters lope up to the feeders.

Then, a fabulous lunch at the park Safari Resort - a spectacular restaurant!Read more

First impression of the Port of Columbo: noisy and a strong aroma of temple incense!

The city combines brilliant, tall, modern, remarkable buildings, including the awesome, iconic Lotus Tower, combined with shabby, dilapidated, dwellings, buildings & shops. Signs of the Buddhist, Hindu, and Islam faiths dot the city.Read more

Three Sea Days

Sea days!

Day 1: We attended the Men's and Women's groups and had dinner with Faye and Joe.

Day 2: Lunch with Drew. We also shared dinner with Virginia & Richard, and Faye & Joe.

We finished the evening with a wonderful piano recital.

Day 3: Relaxation, then we attended the Good Bye party for people leaving this segment. Raucous entertainment!Read more

Praslin, Seychelles

Today we have an excursion which includes a beach outing, (love, love, love!).

We tendered in and promptly took a ferry to another island and were ushered onto an open, but covered lorry to our destination, a coconut plantation. Here we were instructed on every little bit of how coconuts 🥥 go from a tree into 100% use. We also got a chance to visit the giant tortoises!

We then walked to some beautiful beaches where we took a little swim with the fishes and ultimately returned to the ship. Hot day!Read more
