Te Araroa - Tag 7

🇩🇪 Tag 7: 22,5 km Blackbridge Campsite - Puketi Forest Hut

Da es nachts geregnet hat, waren wir uns nicht sicher, ob wir den Fluss durchwandern sollen, da es dort bei zu hohem Wasserstand zu gefährlich werden kann. Aber es war die beste Entscheidung, die wir treffen konnten 🥰 Wenn man den Wald mit Kauri Bäumen betritt oder verlässt, muss man seine Schuhe komplett von Schmutz befreien und desinfizieren, da man sonst eine Krankheit übertragen kann, die zur Zeit viele dieser Bäume abtötet. Das erste Teilstück des Weges geht mehrere Kilometer durch und entlang des Mangapukahukahu Flusses, auf beiden Seiten von dschungelartigem Wald umgeben. Sehr spannend. An der Stelle, an der sich dieser mit dem größeren Waipapa vereint, müssen wir bis zur Hüfte ins Wasser. 🙈 Von da an zieht sich der Weg immer am Fluss entlang durch den Wald, an manchen Stellen ist es sehr matschig, aber da die Schuhe eh komplett nass sind, macht das auch keinen Unterschied mehr. Das letzte Drittel zieht sich dann immer höher hinauf, bis man bald die Puketī Hütte erreicht. In der Hütte konnte dann auch das Zelt einigermaßen trocknen.

🇺🇸 Day 7: 22.5km Blackbridge Campsite - Puketi Forest Hut

Since it rained at night, we weren’t sure whether we should hike through the river as it can be too dangerous if the water level is too high. But it was the best decision we could have made 🥰 When you enter or leave the forest with kauri trees, you have to completely clean your shoes of dirt and disinfect them, otherwise you can transmit a disease that is currently killing many of these trees. The first section of the trail goes several kilometers through and along the Mangapukahukahu River, surrounded on both sides by jungle-like forest. Very exciting. At the point where it joins the larger Waipapa, we have to enter the water up to our waist. 🙈 From then on the path always runs along the river through the forest, in some places it is very muddy, but since the shoes are completely wet anyway, that doesn’t make any difference. The last third then goes higher and higher until you soon reach the Puketī Hut. The tent was then able to dry to some extent in the hut.Read more
