    Coromandel Coastal Walkway

    🇩🇪 Was für eine Natur! 🤩 Alleine schon die Fahrt dahin ist abenteuerlich (30 km Schotter) und bietet atemberaubende Ausblicke. Aber die schöne Wanderung entlang der Küste macht dann final sprachlos. Leider kann man den Coromandel Coastal Walk aktuell nicht komplett laufen, da der Weg in der Mitte durch einen Erdrutsch unpassierbar ist, aber dennoch absolute Empfehlung. Was meint ihr?

    🇺🇸 What nature! 🤩 The drive there alone is adventurous (30 km of gravel) and offers breathtaking views. But the beautiful hike along the coast leaves you speechless. Unfortunately you cannot currently walk the entire Coromandel Coastal Walk because the middle of the path is impassable due to a landslide, but it is still an absolute recommendation.     Hot Water Beach

    🇩🇪 Der Strand ist durchzogen von warmen Quellen. Wenn man die richtigen Stellen erwischt, muss man einfach ein paar Zentimeter graben und kann sich so in heißes Wasser setzen.

    Wanderung Pinnacles Hut

    🇩🇪 Am Nachmittag stieg ich hinauf zur Pinnacles Hut. Diese liegt herrlich eingebettet in den wilden bewaldeten Bergen. Zum Sonnenuntergang und Sonnenaufgang ging es dann jeweils auf den unweit entfernten Pinnacles Gipfel. Schade, diese Gegend schon verlassen zu müssen.

    🇺🇸 In the afternoon I climbed up to Pinnacles Hut. This is beautifully nestled in the wild, forested mountains. For sunset and sunrise I went to the nearby Pinnacles summit. It’s a shame to already have to leave this area.    Læs mere

    Cape Brett Hut

    🇩🇪 Auf eine Empfehlung hin war ich die letzten zwei Tage auf dem Cape Brett Track unterwegs… ein enorm schöner Wanderweg mit einer hübsch gelegenen Hütte am Ende. Man kann wie ich einen Tag hin wandern, dann dort übernachten und am nächsten Tag zurück wandern. Oder man bucht sich ein Wassertaxi für die Rückfahrt. Die Ausblicke auf die Bay of Islands sind traumhaft. 🥰

    🇺🇸 Based on a recommendation I hiked the Cape Brett Track for the last two days... an extremely beautiful hiking trail with a nicely located hut at the end. Like me, you can hike there for a day, then spend the night there and hike back the next day. Or you can book a water taxi for the return journey. The views of the Bay of Islands are fantastic. 🥰    Læs mere

    Haruru Falls

    🇩🇪 Nur 5 Meter hoher, aber breiter Wasserfall, der ziemlich laut die Staustufe überwindet. Nicht umsonst heißt sein Name übersetzt "lauter oder donnernder Lärm"

    Kauri Museum Matakohe

    🇩🇪 Schönes Museum, was sich den imposanten Kauri Bäumen widmet. Sehr spannende Infos, allerdings auch traurig, wie viele dieser Bäume schon nicht mehr existieren.

    Über den Gibbons Track nach Karekare

    🇩🇪 Schöne Tour von Whatipu Beach. Von der Lodge geht es über den Campingplatz Richtung Whatipu Caves. Hier zweigt der Weg auf den Gibbons Track ab. Zuerst steigt der Pfad steil an, bietet aber schöne Aussichten auf den Strand mit seinem Sumpf dahinter. Ab dem Gipfel des Mount Gillies geht es wieder steil hinab Richtung Strand. Der Weg durch das Pararaha Tal erinnerte mich an Jurassic Park. Am Strand angekommen, kann man entweder gleich an diesem entlang zurück laufen oder man macht noch den Abstecher nach Karekare. Ich bin dann dort gleich noch zum Wasserfall gelaufen. Anschließend geht es über den Strand zurück. Wichtig ist hier, komplett bis zum Ende am Strand zu bleiben. Sonst kommt man ins Sumpfgebiet.

    🇺🇸 Beautiful tour of Whatipu Beach. From the lodge, you go through the campsite towards Whatipu Caves. Here the path branches off onto the Gibbons Track. At first the path climbs steeply, but offers beautiful views of the beach with the swamp behind it. From the summit of Mount Gillies, it goes steeply down again towards the beach. The path through the Pararaha Valley reminded me of Jurassic Park. Once you get to the beach, you can either walk straight back along it or make a detour to Karekare. I then walked straight to the waterfall there. Then you go back along the beach. It is important to stay on the beach all the way to the end. Otherwise you will end up in the swamp area.    Læs mere
