Day at the Fair and Moody Alumni

Senior Day at the biggest State Fair.
Parking was 20.00
And we had the token Corney dog -5.00

We were there from 11-2:30
Beautiful day. 90 degrees

Went to the Moody Alumni event held at Dallas Theological Seminary. Nancy was there. Dr. gene Getz and his wife Elaine. Greg Hatteberg was there Doug and Kathy Russell and Ken Wiggers.Read more

After Glenn’s doctor appointment, we headed on i20 towards Mississippi

Lois and Marty were my team leaders when I travel to Central America back in 1977. Lois now lives with her daughter Quita.

We had a lovely dinner and wonderful conversations. So glad we stopped to see them.Read more

We left before 7:15 to get an early start. We stopped by a garage sale and purchased 2 bar stools and a small bike.

We arrived at Dean and Linda just in time for lunch and an afternoon of stamping and watching the Alabama vs Tennessee football game.

Then we met up with Larry and Jayme Hower at Season’s52 for dinner. Wonderful evening with us 3 couples. We talked about the 50+ years they lived in Honduras, Mexico, Canada and now back in the US. And we talked about old times with Dean and Linda and us in Bolivia back in the 1980’s. And how we joined CAM at the same time.

The food was good. The conversation was deep and meaningful. And we enjoyed getting to know the Howers better and appreciate our life long friendship with the Selfs.

Also we did a letterbox on our way to the Selfs. It was at the Alabama rest stop

Visits in Georgia

We had a great visit with Gene and Martha P. in their home in Ga followed by delicious lunch in Warner Robbins. We talked about their years of ministry in San Jose Costa Rica, what ministry looked like now, their health, kids, grandkids and a little politics.

It was good to catch up with them. We continued on our journey towards Jefferson, Ga where we stayed with a new family with “A Candle in the Window”. Lauren and Tom have a high school son who is gifted in music. He gave us a mini concert down in their basement. For dinner we had great conversations about how the Lord was working in each of our lives.

As we were driving in the afternoon, we listened to Martha Binion’s memorial service.Read more

We had a wonderful visit with Joanne and Oliver Sale today. Joanne has been a Marr/Stewart family friend for 45 years. We got caught up on each family. She served a delicious dinner and we talked and talked and talked. Glenn and Oliver watched episode 1 of The listening Road” docuseries. Lovely home.

We had breakfast with Richard and Carole Lynne.They served in Colombia and Ecuador for many years. He was held captive by the guerillas for 66 days. That’s a story. God’s faithfulness.Read more

My birthday

Carol Kendall and I share the day.

Happy 75 bday to Carol and Happy 66 bday to me.

We also share a birthday with Mickey Mantle, Snoop Dog, Jim from The Office and VP Kamala Harris.

I stayed in my pjs all day, watched the son rise, talked, took a 3 hr nap and played games. Glenn cooked hamburgers out.Read more

Glenn’s 49/50th class reunion

After 2 zoom calls, we headed 2 hours back to Asheville, NC where we’re attending Glenn’s Ben Lippen class reunion.

The trees are just gorgeous! Bright yellow and oranges.

We enjoyed a 3 hour dinner at a local restaurant. We sat next to Dan Gute and Steve Walker.Read more

Ben Lippen campus

Glenn went to boarding school from 1970-1973 here in Asheville, NC with about 150 other mks from mostly Central America.

The campus burned down in 1986 or so and moved to Columbia, SC

Glenn has fond memories of his experience here.Read more

We had lunch with Chuck Thompson. He was the WCC ( women’s concert choir) director at Moody when Ellen was there.

He even drive us up Montreat area where Billy Graham had a house.

Final Day with Kendalls

Cassie drove up from SC to visit with us. She is looking at opportunities to serve with Avant sometime.

Visit Sue at Toccoa Falls, Ga

Sue served and lived in Russia for 4 years and then at the home office for 23 years.

She took us up to Toccoa falls. Beautiful.

After visiting Sue, we headed towards Alabama and then on home, but didn’t make it. Only to “Roll Tide” country.

We had a picnic lunch just outside of Atlanta and then stopped in to see Dean and Linda and hear all about their 50th wedding anniversary party.

We made a quick trip around the University of Alabama.Read more
