  • At Moody Bible Institute

    October 18, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 63 °F

We had to skip the morning message as we were involved with a zoom call with members of member Care that support the retirees.

Unfortunately the Wi-Fi didn’t work and our call dropped several times.

We spent the afternoon at moody and visited all the major buildings.

I ran into many old friends.

Joseph Stowell spoke the first night.

Ellen arrived and is staying with us at the hotel for the night. We took Elizabeth, Annie and Amanda to McDonald’s. And then to the evening session with the girls. We walked the 10 blocks to the school. It was just drizzling.

  • Its my birthday

    October 20, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 57 °F

I’m “JudyfromMoody” and I just spent my day on Alumni Day at Moody Bible Institute, my favorite school.

God bless the school that D L Moody founded.

We ran into more friends from our college day.

The alumnus of the year award goes to 1970 graduate that was the COO of Compassion International

Glenn and I found our “brick”. And on the 1978 Year Book, I found my picture. Notice it is right next to DL Moody.

  • My birthday party

    October 20, 2023 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 55 °F

After 2,000 people celebrated my birthday at MBI, Glenn drove us down to Fisher. We took a wrong turn, but in the long run, it was more relaxing driving on streets than on the freeway during Friday afternoon traffic! The only thing, our GPS was kinda taking us thru questionable neighborhoods. I just wanted to make it out alive.

In the meantime, Emily was preparing our Mexican casserole for my birthday dinner.

When we got home, there was a banner made by Lucy. She asked Ellen how old I was and Ellen replied 62. Wow I feel young!

We had dump cake for my birthday and then watched Home Alone.

  • Returning Home

    October 25, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 81 °F

I drove back to Tyler while Glenn flew on to Seattle. He is helping Sherrie drive the Uhaul down to Houston.

I helped with the routing. They’ll stay with Dave and Kathi Gibson in Idaho then one of Sherrie’s friend in Colorado and finally the Ferguson’s in Oklahoma City.

Dad joined me for a short ride to Texas State Fair Park. I picked up my second place ribbon cross stitch. Then I visited mom.

I also ran into the lady that needle point all these replicas of candy bar. Beautiful

In the mean time Glenn and Sherrie picked up the uhaul. They load it on Thursday and leave on Friday.

Glenn and I flew up to Illinois to participate in Carol’s surprise birthday party that Scott organized.

He had a sweet tribute to Carol along with pictures. I’m so glad we made an effort to come up.

We invited granddaughters, Lucy and Elizabeth to join us. We had a nice chat with 39 year old son, Joel.

  • Relaxing Saturday!

    November 4, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 45 °F

Today, we had NO soccer games to go to. We stayed at the house, reading, making crafts working puzzles and taking a nap.

In the afternoon, we walked to the new city park.

In the evening, we watched Anne of Green gables.

So glad we get an extra hour I’d sleep as we have a 7am flight to catch.

  • The Burks bring us home

    November 5, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 77 °F

After an extremely long wait for the fog to lift on our flight back to Dallas, we finally took off.

As soon as we landed, I suggested that we meet Phil and Bobbie when they land from Colorado Springs. Then I thought, well if they were arriving in the afternoon, we could catch a ride back to Tyler with them.

So we hitch a ride. Got into Tyler at 4pm. If we would have flown, the flight didn’t arrive til 6pm. Good call. Fun chatting with them in the truck.
