We enjoyed The Club for our 10:30 flight departed. I read some email of people’s response of our Stewart update - - all about dad.

Our flight was uneventful. We arrived on brine. Took the shuttle to Barcelo hotel. Checked in. Then walked to our favorite steak restaurant. Media Cancha. We spit the order. Perfect.

We talked to the owner. She’s worked there for 46 years. Closed every Monday and the whole month of January.

Thank Glenn for bringing me here.

Wow. Turned the lights out at 7:30 and woke up at 6:30. 11 hours. Wow

We enjoyed the breakfast buffet before checking out of the hotel. We grabbed an Uber to the Office Depot to purchase paper. I walked over to DollarCity. Didn’t buy anything.

We picked up our rental car from House of Blessings. Then we headed over to Bob Henriques home. We delivered jelly beans and a special financial gift from the Seiford’s. When we handed him the money, Bob had tears in his eyes. We were there about 1 hour talking about insurance, death, churches and family. We visited with Ann.

We drove thru our old neighbor. The guard, Victor immediately recognized us. Our old house looked the same.

We ate lunch at our favorite Chinese restaurant then headed to SETECA. Staying in H4 apartment-plain and simple. It was raining earlier in the morning and then the sun came out

  • SETECA 97th Anniversary

    24. februar, Guatemala ⋅ 🌙 55 °F

Today we attended the chapel service here on campus. It was a special event celebrating the 97th anniversary of SETECA. We also learned that SETECA started on February 5, 1929.

We visited Ann Henrique’s in her office. She’s a prof here for many years. She’s even co-authored a Greek text book in Spanish. Bravo.

I spent much of the afternoon with emails. Jack and Therresa wanted to know when we can meet them up in Tahlequah to introduce them to the Avant retirees at Go Ye Village.

  • Visiting more missionaries

    25. februar, Guatemala ⋅ ☀️ 77 °F

Today, we had brunch with Sergio at San Martin. Sergio grew up in Guatemala and around many MKs. He was discipled by Bill Taylor. He was married 33 years before his wife Linda passed away from cancer. That has been 3 years now. We visited and talked about grief, got caught up on his adult boys living in the US, his work and his church life.

We then traveled over to Gary Williams. Beautiful home. Gary lost his first wife to cancer about 15 years ago and then remarried to Esperanza. They have a school in their house. School is called Juan Tres 16. 26 students grade 1-8.

Then up to Antigua to visit the Philippi’s. Their adult daughter, Jan was visiting. We had a great talk with them about their days at Moody Bible Institute. Nice conversation. Paul and Ruth have live nearly 60 years here in Antigua. They did various church planting jobs throughout the years.

Then we checked into hotel Aurora. Nice place. We had Taco Bell and then dessert at Weldon’s.

  • Intermissions 2026

    27. februar, Guatemala ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

Intermissions is an annual event for missionaries of all color, stripe and evangelical missionaries. Glenn and I have enjoyed this much needed retreat to refresh and recharge from our scheduled.

The speakers were Ken Brumley and Lee Poe from Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. Speaking about unity and community within the missionary body. Very good.

We had a chance to sit and have a meal with CAMers Marievelia Berger, the Sywulkas and the Spaughs.

We also had the honor of hanging around Jon and Sara Johnson. New family of 3 boys and hearing their struggle and joys here in Guatemala.

I also got Guatemalan bracelets made for all the grandkids plus for Granddad and Grammie

The weather was perfect. We walked down to the deli for bfast on the first day.

    We had bfast with Marievelia.

We contacted 87 year old Wilfred Johnson in Chimaltenango and he would be delighted to have lunch with us.

So immediately after Ken Brumley spoke we left. We met Wilfred at GBS and drove him to San Martin. I ordered Tortilla Soup, Glenn had lasagna.

Then we continued on to Bob Henriques house for a short visit.

Next stop Barcelo hotel and the swimming pool.
