    On our way to Varanasi we stopped for some hours in Allahabad. The city lies next to one of the holiest places in Hindu tradition: Triveni Sangam is the "confluence" (Sangam in Sanskrit) of three rivers (Ganga, Yamuna & the invisible, mythic underground Saraswati). Here it's said that with a bath you can flush away all your sins and clear the way to heaven. Thousands of Hindus do the pilgrimage and camp on the river banks. It feels like being on an incredible huge festival. On special holy days around 70million Hindus celebrate at this place, making it the largest religious gathering on earth.Read more
