    2 septembre 2024, Angleterre ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

So far, so good. Safely deposited at the airport by by my beloved husband. (Thankfully, he said that he had nothing better to do at 2.30 am on a Monday morning!)

Burgos to Rabe de las Calzadas

    15 septembre 2024, Espagne ⋅ ☀️ 7 °C

What a day! Irena and I decided to spend the morning in Burgos. We went to the cathedral and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast. After which I noticed that the trail shoes I’d bought the previous day were odd sizes, shops close on Sundays. Amazingly the shop assistant saw my message on Instagram and met me at the shop to do the exchange! Got to the Albergue to find a big stage set up outside. Village fiesta was happening. Excellent band followed by a DJ. Dancing ensued, though I also went to the monastery and received the pilgrim’s blessing from Sister Ana. Beautiful!En savoir plus

    Leon to San Martin

    23 septembre 2024, Espagne ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Irena and I decided to go to San Martin - about 23 km today. It felt quite tough and the route was mainly by motorway. Still haven’t shifted my blisters and achy hips today, so glad of a chilled afternoon and evening. Fed some feral cats en route. Staying in a ‘quirky’ albergue - la casa verde. Astorga

    24 septembre 2024, Espagne ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Wonderful to explore Astorga this afternoon. A very impressive cathedral and a beautiful building - the former bishop’s palace - designed by Gaudi. We enjoyed walking through Hospital de Orbigo - an impressive bridge partly of Roman origin. Missed out on breakfast, but found an ‘oasis’ 6km before Astorga - food laid out, help yourself and make a donation. Staying in a former women’s prison tonight.En savoir plus
