• Up, Up and Away!

    15 Januari 2024, Meksiko ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

We headed to bed early and had a really good night's rest. We were up and out on the shuttle to airport by 6:30am. We joined the WestJet super long line for 'assisted' check-in ... hoping they could correct to middle initial that the old boy ended up with on his ticket. The WestJet staffer chuckled and said it was no big deal. She wasn't even going to change it! Whatttt?? I was concerned that if it wasn't corrected now that it might present a problem on the way home. She was totally nonchalant about it all. I guess we'll see on the way home. I hope she's right and I was fretting for nothing.

We remained hopeful that our flight would take off. They invited us at the gate to voluntarily check our carry-on bags because the flight is so full. I imagine we picked up passengers from cancelled flights yesterday and Saturday.

I didn't think my bag would be a problem ... but ... apparently it was too fat to fit in the metal sizer. So ... it had to be checked at the gate. I've never done that before so this unexpected event gave my anxious mind something more to be concerned about. 🥴

We got on the plane ... and then... we were waiting on the plane for take off for a full 75 minutes after our scheduled departure! Honestly, though, I was just so darn glad to be leaving Calgary that I wasn't even upset by the delay. It could have been so much worse!!

We arrived in Cabo and were met by our driver! There is really nothing better than being greeted with a sign with your name on it at the airport!! 👏👏👏

And, well, Tony (our driver) made it all the better with beer, water and a shot of tequila as a warm welcome!

We arrived at our accommodation and it is fantastic! I expect we'll be very happy here! We snuck up to the rooftop for a glass of wine and enjoyed seeing the sun dip behind the mountains at about 5:30pm.

We ventured out to the marina for dinner and thr old boy enjoyed fresh oysters and grilled octopus. I opted for something less oceanic but equally Mexican. I had a scrumptious playter with quessidias and fajitas. The weather was perfect ... the staff were lovely ... the food was excellent (albeit ridiculously expensive) ... and ... the view across the harbor was wonderful.

And now, I am off to bed ... with vision of wandering the neighborhod dancing in my head!

Sleep well ... I'll catch up with you all tomorrow!
