• Day 4 Los Perros - Campamento Paso

    December 27, 2017 in Chile ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

For me it was definitely the most difficult day ahead of us. Not to put too much pressure, we have set out for the journey as the last ones. While brushing teeth, a fox decided to visit the camp and have a look around. It was great to see it from so close and Petr was even a bit scared. After that we could get going. Fortunately the weather was fantastic that was definitely huge help. The 700 m elevation is spread over 3,5 km and with the backpack was very hard. There was few points when I have been so tired and wanted to give up. Petr was enjoying himself and taking lots of videos of me stuck on the snow. The hard work was paid off as when we have finally reached the took, stunning view of the Glaciar Grey opened in front of us. It's part of the Campo de Hielo Sur. We have met a CONAF guide at the top who took few pictures of us before we heared to the camp with a very steep hill down. It seemed like we have been going forever and when we couldn't go any further we have opened map to check where we are. Turned out we have been exactly 5 meters from the camp. Most of the people continued further to the Refugio Grey but for us, this was home for the night. We cooked dinner and gone to bed really early. The next day would be very long for us.Read more
