  • C's Favorites

    July 11, 2018 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

Today we woke up to a bit of an overcast day (as we expected to) and booked some activities. After a quick dip in the pool, C got to ride a Quad Bike and then we all got to hit some golf balls at the driving range. It was quite cool that we purposely hit balls into the water in attempt to land them in floating buoys to win prizes, naturally we only attempted. We relaxed at the hotel balcony with snacks and attracted several visitors (see photos)! After dinner at a Mexican joint we got to see lots of sparkly stars - a couple that shinned a bit brighter turned out to actually be Mars and Jupiter. 🤩Read more

  • Island Exploring!

    July 12, 2018 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Today, we all (C included!) walked about 4.5 miles (over 7km) around the island and to the highest point: Passage Peak! After some food fuel, we walked along the beach at low tide and the boys had a quick swim in one of the many pools. We cleaned up and got cocktails/mocktails at the restaurant One Tree Hill just after sunset. Before bed, we played some “Crazy Bingo” at the Reef Lounge in our hotel. I won the “Fast and Furious” round. Great active day!Read more

  • Reef Ryder

    July 13, 2018 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Today we went on a full day adventure! 9am start and we left the Marina to go to the Whitsunday Island. First stop Tongue Bay. We climbed a short way through the trees to Hill Inlet look out. Absolutely stunning and every shade of blue you can imagine! The picture doesn’t do it justice, of course. Then we walked through to Betty Beach, just left of the inlet. Next we traveled to a small sheltered area where we all snorkeled. For lunch we went to the iconic Whitehaven Beach. We stopped at another snorkel spot where we saw several stingrays. After the second snorkel, we headed back to the island. For our last activity of the day, we got to see a kid friendly magic show.Read more

  • Predator Fishing Charter

    July 14, 2018 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

We got up even earlier today!! We met at the marina before 8am and we were off on our morning of fishing. Even though the group didn’t catch much because of the big tides, our guides Matty and Tarne were good fun and super knowledgeable, or at least they pretended to be. C got to drive the boat and he caught the first fish with the help of our Skipper. He ended up landing another later and M did as well but none were big enough to keep. Only one other person on the charter caught a fish and it was a shark!!! 🦈 Our Skipper filleted it and everyone got to take some home. Once we got off the boat, we took the shark fillets to a local fish and chip shop where they battered and fried it for us. It was yum! We came back to the hotel and had a little down time then M and C went to the pool while I got to relax with my Kindle and enjoy the view. We went to the pub for dinner and watched parts of some movies (the DVD player didn’t want to play movies tonight) at the marina on the lawn with the beautiful sea background. It’s nearing 9pm and time to call it a night so that we can enjoy the activities on the island tomorrow.Read more

  • Island Activities

    July 15, 2018 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 17 °C

Our last full day on Hamilton Island has been mostly low key compared to the rest. We got up way earlier than we should have, had breakfast looking over the ocean, had lunch at the same spot (see photo), and just hung out. We took pictures in a photo booth, played ping pong and tic-tac-toe, read books, played lawn games, came in 4th out of 10 teams at Tropical Trivia, had a swim in the pool, and a nap. Gooooood day!Read more
