Tram from Wall (Mauer) Museum to Freidrichstrasse via Hauptbahnhoff. A walk down Freidrichstrasse toward Checkpoint Charlie. Soup and I spent a frustrating 40 mins in a restaurant without being served. Walk to Berlin Mall. Soup had Currywurst at a restaurant while Hattie tried to prove Aussies can scream louder than Germans.
Girls went shopping while Guys took Hattie home.
Pizza at Il Casolare - take home for our last meal in Berlin.

  • Hahn Berlin to Praha

    July 29, 2017 in Czech Republic ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Up early for an Uber to the Hauptbahnhoff. 11.04am train to Prague. Sad farewells to KMH who were driving to Luzern with an overnight in the Black Forest.
Big stuff up for them with the hire car and baby car seat.
The train trip from Berlin to Prague was probably the most scenic I have ever experienced.
Our transfers were very smooth with the 190cm Svetlana settling us in at around 3.30pm.

  • Cesky Krumlov 37 degrees Celsius

    August 1, 2017 in Czech Republic ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

Arrived here quite early so we had a full half day to explore. We familiarised ourselves with CK by shopping. I was soon tired of this and the heat so I found us a watering hole by the river for some lunch. Pilsener Urquell to wash down a light lunch. Kim went back out shopping so I stayed to savour more of the local produce- Eggenberg Pivo (beer).
This was the local brew - the brewery was right beside our pensione.
Kim returned very pleased with her dress purchase. Later we were to realise she left her Tiffany Heart in the dressing room.
Home to our Pensione - Krumlov Tower.
I went for a swim in the river joining a host of canoers, kayakers and rafters cooling off. Pasta and Lasagna dinner at Nonna Gina capped off a great day - except for Kim's heart.

  • Shooting Zeds and a Pub Dinner

    August 2, 2017 in Czech Republic ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Another lunch on the river this time Kim chose the restaurant (poor choice). Beer was good that's all I can say.
Another trip back to the shop - still closed.
A slow trudge back to the Tower for an afternoon snooze.
5pm saw us on the river bank with a wine and a beer watching the river traffic and some local urchins jumping into a water hole.
Off to Depo for a Chicken Schnitter and Pork Belly and Spinach - excellent.

Up early for a croissant with ham and cheese- then Taxi to the airport. No traffic - Saturday morning. Efficient Austrian check in so loads of time for a coffee in the Panorama Cafe.
Read UK travel warning that Euros were in short supply from Greek ATMs and to take all your spending money with you. Went to every ATM in the airport - none would give me money.
Waste of time. ATM in hotel. 😃
Citygo Skoda Car Hire from Chania airport - pretty easy trip in except for narrow roads and crazy Cretan drivers.
