Vail was a total letdown! Just an empty resort that was in full construction mode. Good thing the drive was stunning and our campground was totally adorable! Bridger was a bit chilly at night (yes the pile of blankets is her) but we left her jacket on overnight in the tent and she warmed up pretty quickly. She certainly slept well enough to have lots of sock chewing and landscaping energy in the morning!Les mer

What a totally awesome time!

We wanted to do a short hike and this loop started at our campground! The creek was in our ears all night which was super nice, and Bridger kicked butt! She loved seeing the snow for the first time and she even crossed a stream on a log! Allie, however, got lots of well-deserved side eye from Kevin about the existence of the snow. Ok, so Kevin is a genius. We all know this, but the best part is when he's a genius without even trying. He found us a "random campsite" outside of grand junction that he picked "just because it happened to be close to the freeway." Turns out it was in Colorado National Monument, so we got to drive through that in the evening after scoping out our super dope campsite that was on top of the Mesa in the actual monument area!!Les mer

We've been carting this stupid bottle around for two thousand miles and we bought it like 2 years ago. And so I thought I'd just drink it to get rid of it, only to find that cinnamon clove cranberry juice is not, actually, any good cold and without bourbon. Yuck. It met a good end down the drain in the Colorado national monument tho, so at least it had that going for it.

We made it to arches! A glorious drive down - you really feel like you're on Mars. We headed to the park only to find it closed due to too many cars! Headed into Moab (which is also cute but I forgot that May is construction season - roadwork EVERYWHERE). Went to the visitor's center to get some info and voila! The park had opened again! So we drove through and admired more cool rocks, but I was most impressed with the mountain range to the south. Holy tomatoes. Definitely going there someday. Mt. Waas or bust!Les mer
