    Meeting Anna in Petitenget

    February 25, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ 🌧 26 °C

The invasion of Ukraine had just begun that week and I was very happy to be able to spend some time with my lovely friend Anna! We went to my favorite restaurant in the area, La Baracca and enjoyed some great food before continuing to dance the night away at La Favela.Read more

  • Arriving in Crystal Bay

    February 26, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ 🌧 28 °C

I took the speedboat to Penida where I was picked up by a driver who took me to my little bungalow place in Crystal Bay. I was the only tourist in the whole village. Went to the beach for some seafood dinner.Read more

  • First Dives in Penida

    February 27, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ 🌧 27 °C

After a yummy breakfast I went to Reeflex Divers with whom I had planned to do 4-5 dives. We went to dive sites I'd already experienced when staying in Lembongan but this was the first time I ever saw a school of dolphins underneath the water. It was breathtaking!Read more

  • Enjoying the sunset

    February 27, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ 🌧 28 °C

Back at the shore I had some delicious lunch at the dive shop and later joined a couple people for dinner at this very hip hipster place overlooking Nusa Ceningan.

  • Kelingking Beach

    February 28, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ 🌧 27 °C

I went to one of Nusa Penida's most famous places which is definately worth a visit: Kelingking Beach. I hiked down to the beach and up again which was a fun but very exhausting experience.

  • Broken Beach

    February 28, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ 🌧 29 °C

From Kelingking Beach we continued to Billabong (not very exciting ...honestly) and broken beach. Then we went back to Crystal Bay where I spent the afternoon working before heading to the beach for dinner.Read more

  • Last day in Crystal Bay

    March 1, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ 🌧 29 °C

Went on two more dives, physically challenging and beautiful but without seeing anything special. In the evening I got lucky and was able to join a party at the dive center. I'd met some really nice people there and I'm sure that I'll be back some time!Read more

  • Changing locations

    March 2, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

I took a taxi to the south of the island, settled into my new accomodation and spend two hours at a well-known restaurant and café...working. On the way there I was able to see a small ceremony at a beautiful temple.Read more

  • Nyepi - Day of Silence

    March 3, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

Nyepi or the Day of Silence is the most important holiday of Bali's Hindu population. During this holiday, all electricity and wifi is turned off in Nusa Penida. Many accomodations were closed so I was lucky that I found one which stayed open. The day passed faster than I'd expected. I spent it reading, working, eating and relaxing.Read more

  • Road trip to Diamond Beach

    March 4, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Diamond Beach is another beautiful place in Nusa Penida. I enjoyed the views and took my time hiking a bit around when I spotted two Manta Rays playing in the surf. It was an absolutely amazing sight!

  • Atuh Beach

    March 4, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Atuh beach is situated right next to Diamond Beach. It's a beatiful spot and very inviting if you want to swim a little or read a good book.

  • Visiting Pura Giri Putri temple

    March 4, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

I didn't know what to expect when this temple was recommended to me. Certainly I did not expect it to be in a cave. I'm not a big fan of caves but this place was really amazing. The entrance was a small whole in the floor..I almost didn't find it. The exist was more accessible. There was even a ceremony taking place while I was there. Quite nice!Read more

  • Back at The Chill Penida

    March 4, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ 🌧 29 °C

I spent the rest of the afternoon working and eating at The Chill enjoying the views, the breeze and the good cuisine. Since borders were still closed I mostly had the place to myself.

  • Last morning

    March 5, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

Unfortunately I had to return to Jakarta on Saturday. So back to the harbor, taking the ferry, getting a Covid test done and further on to the airport.

  • Landing in Jakarta

    March 5, 2022 in Indonesia ⋅ 🌧 28 °C

It must have rained a lot because we got some amazing view of Jakarta and the neighboring satelite cities when preparing to land. You could see as far as Bogor. Really nice!
