Hofgarten, Munich

Continuing on our own we walk through the Hofgarten, the Royal Gardens. It was built between 1613-17. In the center of the garden is a pavilion for the goddess Diana, built in 1615. The garden was destroyed during WW2, and was rebuilt with a partial redesign which compromised between the landscape garden character it had acquired in the 19th century and the original formal design of the 17th century.
