    High up above the town, among the strange, red-hued cliffs and massifs, lies the fortress guarding the strategic valley pass below. Originally built in 1-3AD as a small fortress/rampart, it was conquered by the Ottomans and partially destroyed. Reconstruction took place in the early 19th century.
    Over millennia, the sandstone has been weathered and eroded into unique rock formations which are a great natural wonder. The way to the fort is cobbled and steep with uneven rock steps.
