Heimburg and Stahleck Castles, Bacharach

Heimburg Castle [km 539] is a 13th century castle which was destroyed under Louis XIV and rebuilt in the 19th century in a neo-gothic style and square layout.
Stahleck Castle [km 543] is in Bacharach. This 12th century castle was repeatedly attacked during the 17th century wars and lay in ruins for 237 years. Rebuilt in 1909, it’s now a youth hostel.
