Vibrant street art in the lane behind Star Village Mall.
The Star Picture Theatre was built in 1929 & was once the “social hub of the Territory”. This open air picture theatre survived the bombings of WW2 and entertained people up til Xmas Eve 1974. It was severely damaged during Cyclone Tracy.
The original Tin Star at the front of the theatre was toppled by 200mph winds; a steel bracket supporting the star was bent in one direction by the force of the wind during Cyclone Tracy. Now it is the site of Star Village, a collection of shops and eateries. Historical memorabilia is displayed throughout.
