Camp #26 - Sunset Campground

Sunset Campground within Byrce Canyon National Park.

We got there and tried maybe 3 or 4 spots before agreeing on the first one. And then we had to shift it off the parking pad to get more level.

Although morning 1 we got told we weren't allowed to be where the tents where meant to be... Even though that's exactly where our tent was (just on top of the truck) - he was a total jobsworth of a failed cop/Park ranger.

Again some cold camping, thankfully the diesel heater still had some fuel in it 😁Lue lisää

Hike - Queen's garden?

Can't really remember the name. It a couple of trails that met up rather than a normal hike I think. The rim path that joined najarvo path? And then queen's garden maybe? Lots of people out. But a good walk!Lue lisää

Laundry timeeeeee 🤟

Bryce Canon National Park has a general store which also has showers and a laundry room. Time to do more laundry.
Here's a video I made of how I did it... Nothing exciting, but something different to just pictures 🤷🏼
Oh and for some reason a bunch of my socks were the only things to not dry, thankfully I brought this handy little drying line with me, so I hung them up on the truck to dry out!Lue lisää

Random little town of Virgin, Utah. We stopped at this trading post that had a little village and a petting zoo. Very random, but I would not recommend.

It's just a giant field with a couple of portaloo's 😂
It's very dusty though.

OK, after sleeping a night. This is such a scam 😂 😂 😂 $35 to sleep in a cow field with cows moo'ing all night, a full portaloo with no toilet roll. Such a bad gig.
Views are great though and there's nobody around which is nice, but not great for a good night's sleep and everything is covered in dust now. Time to wash it again?Lue lisää

Camp #28 - BLM

With the loud cows last night. We didn't stay the second night at that campsite and came to some free land instead.
We had to cross a little creek to get to it which was fun.

Somebody also donated a pink portaloo to the site to try and help keep the desert clean, which is nice. But it was on the wrong side of the creek for us to use.

Also this weekend is Red Bull Rampage, one of Red Bull's largest mountain biking events (it's streamed live to ESPN, etc) and the camp ground was full of people for the event (riders and spectators) which meant some partying from other guests. Including riding dirt/moto-Cross bikes at 1-2am which kept us up! Even worse that we're up at 6:30am to go to Zion tomorrow!Lue lisää

Whilst on the phone to Dano today he looked up the motel we were staying in and showed me it on street view as I showed him the actual motel door from the truck 😂

After the last few nights of terrible sleep, we were a bit over camping. So I decided it was time for a motel. It was only £43 so not much more expensive than some of the camp sites around.Lue lisää

Toy shopping

The drone I brought with me on the trip works great (apart from the time it didn't and broke before I took it apart to fix it) however it is really really noisy. So today I decided for a fun little new toy and got a new drone to hopefully take more videos for Instsgram and create amazing memories.

Also it turns out the Best Buy store I grabbed the drone from was on route 66. So accidentally I drove along part of the classic route 66.Lue lisää

Hotel - Twin Arrows casino

Whilst driving from Page, AZ to Flagstaff it was a case of non stop wind. So we decided that it'd be best to stay in a hotel rather than in the tent tonight.

This hotel/casino still requires masks (first place we've had to wear masks since we started our trip) but the sound from inside our room of the wind beating against the windows tells us we made the right choice staying here. Maybe we should have taken a ground floor room instead of the top floor to avoid the wind a bit more!Lue lisää

Camping in the Grand Canyon National Park. It's cold as hell here though!
I cooked dinner which we ate up in the tent as it was so cold. But I left the bag of rubbish outside whilst we ate and the ravens attacked it and ripped it to bits. So we had to pick up the rubbish!Lue lisää

Watching a hockey game in Vegas. The Las Vegas Golden Knights vs the Toronto Maple Leafs

Thankfully the home crowd won. Worst part was £20 a drink and a game that lasts 2 and half hours.

Yosemite - Wawona hotel

Knowing today would be a long day of driving from Las Vegas to Yosemite, I prebooked a hotel in Yosemite rather than trying to chance for a first come, first serve camp spot.
We got to Wawona hotel at around 9pm where we were told not to leave any food or scented items in the truck.
So I dragged Laura back out into the cold to help me unpack all our food and shopping before creating a make shift cool box out of our dry food storage and some ice. Can't be wasting my Ben and Jerry's now.Lue lisää

Camp #30 - Upper Pines Campground

Our Campground for the night in Yosemite!
We pulled up at lunch time, time to make lunch and setup before we go for a hike.
There is a lot of ravens around though!

Shortly after our arrival at the camp ground, a neighbouring pitch pulled up. There was some left over items on thier pitch from a previous guest and he asked if we knew about it. He then told us that he had loads of beers and it was his last night, so we'd have to join him.
Turns out, 52 year old Gerald was a nice guy and we ended up drinking from 5pm, cooked him dinner (cooked him his own dinner, which we also ate 😂) and stayed up until 11pm.Lue lisää

Hike - Four Mile trail

This hike gives you amazing views of El Capitan on the way up (and down) and then you're opposite the half dome at the top. Great hike. Also the road that you can drive up to the top is currently shut. So it meant we got to the top and there wasn't a lot of people around.Lue lisää
