  • 🍕 🍕 Dollar pizza!

    September 6, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 21 °C

I'm obsessed with the idea of dollar pizza. After the museum we found a dollar (well 99¢) pizza place.
It was $1/slice and then add 1 for meat toppings.
A deal of $2.75 for 2 slices and a soda.

  • Hotel or film set?

    September 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

We got to our next hotel earlier than we could check in (as we had to check our of our last one already)
Once we rocked up, there seemed to be a film studio set up in the reception/lobby.

Anyway we can't check in, so bags dropped and off out we go.Read more

  • SuperWash

    September 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

We all have to do chores right? Including jobless people like us. We still need to clean our clothes.
    These "laundromats" are huge though!

  • REI!

    September 8, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Now stocking up on camp essentials. New stove, camp cooking set, plates, forks, etc.
Unfortunately they did not have any suitable camp chairs or tables for us! On to the next camp store.

  • First fuel stop

    September 8, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

When we shipped the truck. It had to have just under 1/4 a tank, but more than red. So it needed filling up before we hit the road tomorrow and head out the city properly!
Going to take some getting used to the gallons. Also diesel is around $5/g where as petrol is $3.50/g and lots of fuel stops seem to charge less for cash than "credit"Read more

  • Pit stop

    September 9, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

A little fuel break for us and the car before heading into the start of the skyline drive on the blue ridge Parkway in Shenandoah national park

  • Camp #1

    September 9, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 17 °C

Camp 1 on the blue ridge drive.
Great little spot. We missed the talk on bears, but did get to see the talk on other wildlife by a very enthusiastic park ranger. She loved to strike her imaginary tail

  • A bigger hike

    September 12, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

This hike was bigger than the one we did the other day.
It's called Alum Cave bluff (can be found on AllTrails app)
It was a great hike. The weather held out for us, so we missed the rain. Although it was very humid and hot (as you can see in some of the photos of the sweat dripping down me)Read more

  • Camp spot #4

    September 12, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Whoops. A little fire was had!
In the camp shop I got myself an ice cream and Laura a citronella candle as last night was very bug infested. But we don't have any lighters or matches to light the candle.
Laura tried turning it upside down over the stove. But the candle fell out of it's pot and just melted over the stove! 🔥

  • Abram falls hike

    September 13, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

This hike was a short drive from our camp site. We got there early (which was good as there was plenty of parking and nobody on the trail) and enjoyed the hike to this waterfall.

We didn't see any bears on the hike, but plenty of other wildlifeRead more

  • The Bluebird cafe 🐦

    September 14, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Small music venue. You're not allowed to take videos so only a very short clip included.
This place Laura found online whilst we were just wondering around at 4:30. Turns out if you don't have a reservation doors open at 5pm and you may or may not get in at 6.
So we dashed there and were in the line a couple of people before the cut off and made it in.
    A good evening.

  • Camp #5

    September 15, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

A nice little camp site. We got here and the camp host wasn't around so a guy who I think works there, kind of helped us out.
Anyway we were camped out next to some huge motor homes and they had loads of lights.
Red, white and blue border lights to mark out the boundary of their camp spot. And even a light up American flag.
We struggled to get to sleep with all the bloody lights. It was like being back in Times Square
Oh and I finally got to eat my mango sorbet I've been saving in the freezer

  • Camp #6

    September 16, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

I finally got to setup a hammock!
I've always wanted to setup a hammock but have never gotten around to it. But I found a couple of good trees here and tried it out!
The drone clip.... Well the drone went on a suicide mission and tried to dive itself into the lake!

In the evening before the hammock, we had a little dip and then in the morning we enjoyed a run around the larger lake (5km).

Oh and the showers at this camp site will shred your skin off. They were powerful!

  • Camp #7 - New Orleans

    September 17, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

A camp for a couple of nights in New Orleans.
It was a marina and rv Park. It wasn't the nicest place we've stayed but it was safe enough.
New Orleans I wasn't a fan of. We could hear lots of gun shooting in the distance whilst we tried to sleep. It's now the highest murder city in the whole of the USRead more
