  • Skradin krka national park

    September 3, 2016 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Skradin is a beautiful small old town that is cheap as it hasn't been properly discovered as a tourist destination yet. We had a terrific meal plenty of wine and beer for $45 a head and it was the number 1 TripAdvisor restaurant. We are staying in a cute two bed apartment with a 10/10 host for $70 a couple per night. We will come back again one day for at least a week. It is up there with the town of Amalfi as one of our, if we can, we will return destinations. Our host owns "mate bar" and he invited us to be the first to taste their 2016 white wine as it was for the first time transferred from the barrel, it was 7.30am. Last night at his bar they served us free liqueurs also, after at our arrival, he poured us all a liqueur made of roses and believe it or not it was very nice. Can you spot fi and Meredith in the last photo? This is one of the waterfalls at krka national park. This is a quaint quirky town that from our experience hasn't yet been spoilt by tourists.Read more

    Zlatko the legend. Photo 6.
Thank you Zlatko for your lovely apartment and your incredibly fantastic service. It's hard to find the words that convey our fantastic experience with Zlatko. He is most helpful eg. We couldn't get a bus connection at the time we needed to get to split, no problem said Zlatko he drove us to Split and on the way he told about all things Croatia including regional politics and history. We were so captivated Fi wished the one hour trip took four hours to listen more. Bloody Serbs?Read more

  • milna

    September 5, 2016 in Croatia ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Milna population 833. Quaint old town full of cats and crumbling buildings. If a half decent earthquake hit here half the building stock would collapse. Eg four storey cracked rock walls without any lateral bracing.
The boat you can see was chartered by a wealthy Indian family for $250,000/week. Oh and because two of the hired help couldn't fit in this boat they also chartered the one in the background. $500,000 a week. La dolce vita......obscene?

  • Hvar

    September 5, 2016 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Residents of Hvar mostly work in the fishing and tourism industries. Hvar has a very mild Mediterranean climate, beautiful beaches and Mediterranean vegetation that make it one of the most attractive tourist centers in Europe. The island promotes itself as "the sunniest spot in Europe", with over 2715 hours of sunlight in an average year.

Hvar town is the main tourist center. It features a large public square (St Stephen's Square/trg Sv. Stjepana) that is open to the sea. During the tourist season, the port is filled with large yachts. All-night discos attract large crowds of young visitors, including Veneranda, one of Europe's leading open-air party venues.

Last week Bono paid a visit. We loved the sunniest spot in Europe!

  • Dubrovnik

    September 8, 2016 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Unesco rebuilt Dubrovnik after Slob Milosovic's Serbian forces blew the crap out of this city. (1991) 56% of structures were blown up but you would never know as the reconstruction by unesco was carried out brilliantly. Not long ago 80% of locals lived in the old walled city, now a tourist Mecca and the most expensive part of Croatia, only 16% now live here as casual rental returns are so high between April and October.Read more

  • Sardinian WildHorses

    September 16, 2016 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

The Giara horse is a horse breed native to the island of Sardinia. It is one of the fifteen indigenous horse "breeds of limited distribution" recognised by the AIA, the Italian breeders' association. While of small size due to the hostile environment in which it lives, and sometimes called a "pony," it is considered a true horse.
    Smaller than the average horse.

  • Palermo

    September 22, 2016 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 6 °C

Welcome to Sicily. We got a 1km trip from port to accommodation for a lazy 25 euro. A rip off but what a classic. Millimetre perfect driving. He would cut people off and when the other driver beeps him he makes sure he looks at them and blows a kiss.
We like Palermo and have been told it is no longer the mafia capital of the world but it is the dog shit capital of the world. They don't clean up their Doggy do. Having said that the people appear to be like the Sardinians, Sicilians first and Italians second. The language is heavily influenced by Arabic.

A bakery below us open until midnight with locals singing and playing guitar at night
    Chilled locals
Red two door convertible (fiat heap of shit but who cares. The only thing on the dash that works is the clock)
    Aeolian islands are special.

  • Mt Etna

    September 22, 2016 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

My Etna is 150m higher since its last eruption in 2002. It spewed molten lava out at the speed of sound.
Mid-high 20s at base 1degree on the top. The surface that Glenn is feeling is 40-50 degrees.
