Originally ordered monkfish but they were out, pivoted to pork loin which might have been veal...

A sort of custard thing (meekly lapped at the edges as was now bulging alarmingly) and lemon sorbet

Gastronomic loitering

All told we spent five hours at the bar/restaurant/supermarket up the road from our accommodation today, and I think of the four places in town we really picked a winner. From 11am to 1pm we nursed a coke and our packed lunches waiting for check in, then we optimistically rocked up for dinner at 5:45pm and nursed a second, somehow more delicious coke until service started at 7:30pm, getting home at 9pm and tumbling directly into bed. We went with the 20e set menu, which included bread, three courses and a bottle of wine. It was all really delicious, so chalk that up as another difference, it was yonks before I ate a truly nice sit down dinner last time.
