Portomarin to Palas de Rei

Today I strove to fulfill a resolution - slow down and smell the roses. As I found out yesterday, there is no beating these crowds. Instead of breaking a sweat in fruitless efforts to get ahead, I may as well just surrender, slow down, and enjoy.

In order to help me do this, I needed to block the crowds' presence from at least one of my senses. For the first time all trip, I walked with my headphones in, listening to music the whole 20km. I tried to pretend I couldn't see them either. Less successful.

It was a nice walk, an uneventful walk, not too easy not too hard. Palas de Rei ended up being a very sweet little town, with a number of streetside bars and stone staircases I spent most of the evening wandering between.

With two loud snorers who were working in alternate tandem, to produce a constant unbroken snore stream, I had a very poor sleep, but we push on! To Santiago!! Onwards!Read more
