Perouges & down to Vienne

After lunch we took the extra excursion driving up to Perouges, which is a lovely hilltop mediaeval town north east of Lyon. It didn’t take long to get there and we saw sunflowers on the way. This town is fortified, completely cobblestoned and a very pretty village. It is one of the most authentic ones we have been to. Our tour guide was very informative and we learnt a lot about its history and current day residents which number under 100. It was lovely hour or so and now we are on the bus which is driving us down to Vienne to meet the boat which is taking its first journey without us. Not only is tomorrow a public holiday for Bastille day but it is also school holidays so we are expecting delays.Read more
