• The 'girls' arrive

On Sunday afternoon after all the necessary preparations have been undertaken, I took a quick trip to Surgeres station to collect Roger's sister, Jenny and her daughter, Alyssa. Jen is over from Sydney for 4 weeks holiday, and as Alyssa has just received notice of the successful completion of her barrister pupiledge at Essex Court Chambers, she now has her own office and will officially work independently under their name. A great achievement, and reward for all her hard work.

There was naturally much celebration to be had, champagne to be consumed and of course, aperol spritz by the pool. In fact we did not move from the pool, except for the occasional nana nap. Roger provided the requested sustenance, moules and frites the first night and delicious confit duck on the second night, and then on Tuesday we enjoyed quiche for lunch with homemade apple and blackberry tartin for afternoon tea before it was time to drop them of again at Surgeres, to return to Paris en route to Greece.

There's a few photos to share but Alyssa took several others which I'll add once she gets back from her holidays. A short, but sweet family catchup that met all the brief requirements- rest and relaxation.
