Attended the festival today. Walked around for a few hours, saw a couple of camel races and a yabby race, bought a souvlaki and threw it away, looked at some stalls. Glad we only went for one day,Weiterlesen
Waterloo Plains Environmental Park

At Wandoan, west of Hervey Bay. Free site with hot hot showers. Lots of bindiis. Very clean amenities. Behind the Bowls Club, "town" is just up the street. Good spot for the night.
Cracow

Took the shortcut along Cracow Road from Wandoan.. 50% dirt, sand & rocks. Wattle trees on both sides, cows on the road. Probably took longer than the highway but 100 kms shorter.

Just arrived at Theodore and grabbed a beautiful spot by the river. Enjoying the lyrical songs of the birds. This is what it's all about.

Had to leave Theodore as we were in shade for too much of the day and the gennie decided to have a breakdown. Moura is a bigger town but the camp site is further away and not as pretty. HopefullyWeiterlesen

Another free spot on the Dawson River. Dirt road from Moura was very interesting. Batteries finally charged, lots of sun here.

$5 for power & shower. No generators allowed. Gets crowded near the power boxes. No shops. One bar of Telstra near the bbq. Good stop to do the washing and make a loaf of bread.

Lovely day exploring the area, lots of dirt roads, hills and trees. It's such a pretty part of Qld and so close to Gladstone and Rockhampton. Here are some highlights of the day.

Peaceful site spoiled by generators running all day. Beautiful scenery. No Telstra to speak of, only one dot occasionally near the toilet block.

Between the highway and the river. Free site with cold shower in the ladies (no showerheads in gents or disabled showers). Traffic noise died down in the evening.

Old caravan park, close to town. Fabulous hot showers. Get key for amenities from information centre, $10 refundable deposit. 48 hour maximum.
First Settler's Park, Benarkin

Peaceful free site with hot showers, shop across the street. Three little local dogs visit in the morning. Horse & bike "rail trail" passes by. Bbq & playground.
