    Farewell

    23. april, Kenya ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

We felt truly at home at PPI Kenya, which is a blessing. And, it says a lot, since the living was much more difficult than Western standards.

The boys both found inspiration in the work. Judah started thinking about how to make money at farming in BC. Mathai started thinking about raising animals at home. Aaron and I were delighted at these sparks; when we first raised the notion of volunteering for a couple of weeks, the boys balked at 'working for free'. Their experience of volunteering changed this perspective.

Rachel gave Judah the nickname of Mr. Jackfruit, and she called Mathai Mr. Rabbit.

Towards the end of our stay, we gave Lillian money to purchase a goat and some other supplies. Thus, the party was in motion! Like other occasions, we completed the event with a round of speeches, where each person, in a specific order, shared their words of appreciation about the meal and/or our stay at PPI Kenya. Lots of love went around!
