We've learned that cities aren't typically our jam on this trip. The boys need space to move, plus the culture that interests the adults often bores the kids. So, we spent one night in Casablanca - enough time to find a square to play football, download some books and entertainment, and get some Moroccan cash.
The train to Fez was simple and easy. But, the car rental was not open when we arrived as Morocco stores and services are often closed for midday prayers, lunch and rest. So we waited.
As we drove south from Fez, we soaked up all the beauty of the hills, towns filled with flat topped houses, olive trees, poppies, sheep and goats.
We chose the small town of Guigou as our first destination because it has a large market, or souq, on the weekend. The town swelled with sellers of vegetables, livestock and meat, used and new clothes, odds and ends (some in good condition, some broken), and pretty much anything else.Read more
