    Bryce Canyon National Park

    We made it to Bryce Canyon National Park around lunch time. Keri & I checked in to our campsite, set up the tent, & headed into the park to do the scenic drive & take some pics from the overlooks. Then we headed back to camp to meet up with Chris. My back was hurting from carrying my heavy pack around yesterday, so I hung out & read in the hammock while they went on a hike. Then we cooked some dinner at the campsite & ended the night with boysenberry pie a la mode from the restaurant across the road. Yum!En savoir plus

    Inspiration Point & Rim Trail

    Today we drove up to Bryce Point & hiked up to Inspiration Point and down the 5.5 mile Rim Trail to Fairyland. We stopped for lunch at a little picnic table and met an older couple traveling from California who grew up in Austin! After lunch we had to walk another 3/4 mile up the road to the visitor's center to catch the shuttle back to the car. We stopped at a little ice cream shop on the way back to camp & I had some yummy wild huckleberry & chocolate almond ice cream.En savoir plus

    Capitol Reef National Park

    Brrr! I knew it got cold in the desert at night, but I guess I didn't factor in the elevation as well. It got down to 37° last night! We woke up at 5:30, rushed to pack up camp in the cold, & hit the road. We took a slight detour through Capitol Reef National Park, which didn't have a whole lot to see, but we stopped at the visitor's center & got some pics at a few overlooks. Now we're heading on to Moab to meet up with Chris again.En savoir plus

    Arches & Moab

    We made it to Moab about half an hour before Chris, so we took a scenic drive through Arches National Park while we waited for him to arrive. Then we all met up at the Moab Brewery for lunch. Chris still has a few more days off to explore the area, but our journey ends here, so Keri and I are making the long trek back to Austin now. We're hoping to make it as far as Roswell tonight.
