    Rest days 😴

    9 de janeiro, Austrália ⋅ 🌬 73 °F

Yesterday was a whole rest day. We did some work/class, and booked a good amount of our next few travel commitments. It’s a bit challenge to balance that with enjoying our time in each place! In the evening we had a lovely dinner Annie made and chilled watching tv. I ordered some cookies from an Australia bakery I follow online and we had fun trying those.

Today we woke up to news that the wildfires that have sprouted across the mountains in LA have escalated. We had planned to maybe go into Sydney, but we felt distracted and wanted to spend our remaining day with our friends. Henry and I made a final attempt to find a postcard for the area (apparently postcards are more of a “European thing” according to the guy in the newsagents).

We did a brief but steep walk in the nearby national park. The cicadas were so loud I had to put in headphones to dull the sound. At the visitor center we finally chose a little mascot, a pink axolotl in honor of Annie’s axolotl Lychee. Then we joined Annie and Shaun for a drive down the coast. We saw some beautiful views and stopped for fish and chips. Tomorrow we head to Oberon to meet my friend Jess.
