• Heidelberg and Christmas!

    Candace and I dropped off Gustavo and the crew yesterday morning, and now we’re exploring Germany on our own — especially the Christmas markets.

    Last night we returned to Worms, where the market was still being set up when we visited two weeks earlier. This time it was fully alive — lights, food stalls, music, and that classic European Christmas feeling.

    Today we visited Heidelberg, wandered the old town, and enjoyed the Christmas markets and the Käthe Wohlfahrt store. We toured Heiliggeistkirche (Church of the Holy Spirit) — the place where the Heidelberg Catechism was written and where Pastor Hermann Maas once served.

    Maas openly opposed the Nazis, helped Jewish families escape, and became the first German officially invited to Israel after the war. Standing in his church was a powerful reminder of courage, faithfulness, and reconciliation.
