Klondike River

The Dempster Highway is often called „a-must-do“ for Yukon, especially while doing a roadtrip. It’s about 1.000km, starting near Dawson City going through Inuvik to the Arctic Ocean. The street is more like the Liard Highway - a sand-street (sometimes better, sometimes worse). So we asked around why it is a „must“ and what locals recommend. And the conclusion? We’re driving maybe 150 km, hoping to see mountains, tundra and caribous, maybe moose (it’s meeting-season!) while hiking. Our first stop was the visitor center (Open until the 15th of Sept) and then we drove to this beautiful night spot near the grizzly lake trail, which we’re planning on doing the next day. 🤗 🥾 ⛰

Der Dempster Highway wird häufig als ein „Muss“ bezeichnet; für den Yukon und vor allem für einen Roadtrip. Es handelt sich um eine Strecke von etwas 1.000km, die bei Dawson City starten und über Inuvik bis an den Arktischen Ozean gehen. Die Straße ist mal besser, mal schlechter - aber alles Sandstraße. Also fragten wir ein wenig rum, warum es als „Muss“ gilt und was so die Locals empfehlen. Resultat ist, dass wir ihn um die 150km fahren, Wanderungen machen und dabei hoffen, Berge, Tundra, Rentiere und vielleicht Elche (bei der Brunft) beobachten können.
Unser erster Stopp war das Besucherzentrum (hat noch bis 15.9. auf), bevor es an unseren ersten Stopp im Nationalpark ging. Er ist nah am Grizzly-Lake-Trail, den wir morgen machen wollen. 🤗🥾⛰Leggi altro
