• Day 208: Yoho National Park

    5 de agosto de 2024, Canadá ⋅ ⛅ 63 °F

Now introducing the moment Kieran’s been waiting for: Canadian National Parks!! From Calgary, we drove 2.5 hours to Yoho National Park. We would camp at Takakkaw Falls the next two days. This particular campsite was .5 km from the parking lot and provided wheelbarrows to carry camping gear up; our site 14 had a nice view of the falls. Along the way we met Sandra from Australia who was solo tripping through Canada, US, and then Patagonia.

Setting up camp by 3pm, we opted to hike in the immediate area. There was a nice 8 km hike that passed two waterfalls as well as a glacial run off river. Towards the end of our hike, there was a huge storm and downpour. We made it back completely soaked and did not get struck by lightening.

Cooked dinner inside a shelter hut with other groups and enjoyed potato, carrots, and steak while it stormed outside. Sandra eventually joined and we chatted for 2+ hours. It got super cold so we ran back to the tent and attempted to warm up. It continued to storm through the night, but the tent survived its first major downpour!!
