      04.02.2024 Port Louis, Mauritius

      April 2 in Mauritius ⋅ 🌬 75 °F

The Viking Neptune arrived today and our only plan was to reboard the ship, have breakfast and unpack suitcases.
Diana’s heart stopped for a few minutes today as she left a sling bag with our passports and medications in the cab that took us from the hotel to the ship. We noticed just as we were heading into the terminal towards security so Myron went back outside as Diana called the hotel. Our driver thankfully saw the bag did a loop in the port and delivered it safely to Myron. Tragedy diverted.
Went to breakfast at the Restaurant. Ahhh, civilization. We sent out laundry, threw the items that did not go in a dryer into a machine. Unpacked, got organized and hit the Spa.
Diana downloaded pictures from her phone, 853 to be exact and sorted them into their folders. She decided to meet Myron in the Living Room and play Pinochle. He won 3 of 4 games.
Myron had a haircut at 4. We had dinner in the Restaurant tonight with Randy and Vicki. Neither of us slept good last night as we think we were excited just to get back to the ship. We are off to bed,

Port Louis - the busy capital

      November 15, 2021 in Mauritius ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Some adventurous minutes with the local bus away from our hotel in the suburbs, the central city was quite some speed dating with the local culture for a first day - walking through the busy central market, trying new things (total recomendation for super famous Alouda milkshake, which tastes like liquid vanilla pudding 😋) , buying fruits, talking to people in English/French, visiting the prosperous waterfront and hopping back on the hot local bus (but perfectly windy during the ride) while listening to some French music and the news about Covid-19.

Only few days before our arrival regulations got more strict again and masks have to be worn inside and outside everywhere now. Quite some challenge with 30°C but all (!) people take it very serious here and it makes you feel much more secure.

      Port Louis

      September 19, 2023 in Mauritius ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C
