    Moat around outside of Sunpu castle. Two other moats inside were filled in.
    Castle built 1586. rebuilt 1607, 1610, 1635 Entrance into castle, leads to an inner courtyard.Inner courtyard with 90 degree turn that slowed down invaders.Second set of gates into Sunpu castle grounds, now gardens.Tokugawa Ieyasu 1543-1616 1st shogun of Tokugawa shogunate that ruled 1603-1868, built castle.Momijiyama Garden, the grounds around remains of Sunpu castle.Yup, we were there.Love Japanese gardens for all their contrasts and form.Comedy Yaji, Kita, 2 samurai in Edo period. journey to the Temple of Ise, where all will be rightMiho-no-Matsubara,Mt. Fuji’s world heritage site, thirty-thousand, 300 yr.old pine trees.Miho-no-Matsubara’s 7km beach.Don trying to pointing to the top of Mt Fuji, cloud covered. Rarely seen clearly.Mount Fuji,an active volcano, Japan's tallest peak, at 3,776 meters.One of 3 sacred mountainsView from dock when we returned to the ship.
