  • Preparing for Departure

    May 19, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

Twelve students and two faculty members will depart for Thailand on May 22, with the goal of exploring economic development, learning about SE Asia, and immersing in the culture. The group will move around just about every day, so that we see as much of the country as possible. Our itinerary takes us from the hustle of Bangkok to the border of Myanmar, to fishing villages and beaches around the Gulf of Thailand. Along the way, we will visit unique markets, a community that harvests oysters, a family-owned mushroom farm, a Karen tribe living in rural Thailand, an elephant camp, a national park, an orphanage, a women's weaving project, beautiful temples, the king's palace, and much more. Follow our adventure by checking the journal daily. We will post multiple times a day, but wifi access will restrict when we can upload entries. And post comments for us! Students will be able to check the journal as well.Read more
