    What a fun day!

With three new friends from France, Switzerland and Italy, I hiked up to a glacier lake. Some adventures included: hitch hiking in the back of a small delivery van, walking through muddy swamps with some of us sinking in way over our boots, river crossings, beaver dams, and gorgeous views.

A fun new hiking tradition is greeting other hikers in random languages, our favorites today were Austrian, Italian and Japanese :)

I also picked the nicest spot on the hike to leave an item that belonged to my grandpa there (pic 6). In the 1940s his dream had been to emigrate to Argentina, but he never made it there himself... Love you, Opa Gerhard!
