Arc de Triomphe

18204 steps yesterday, and I have a feeling it is going to be another big step day again today!

The first stop Arc de Triomphe. Inspired by the Arch of Titus in Rome, Napoleon commissioned it to honour those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, and later WWI. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from WW1 to represent the 1.3 million French soldiers who gave their lives.

The Arc de Triomphe has an overall height of 50m (164 ft), with 284 steps to the top. The view was totally worth it, unlike my pictures with my selfie stick 😆Read more
