• At the Warehouse District

    August 20, 2018 in Germany ⋅ 🌧 19 °C

The next morning, we left to visit the old Warehouse District (or German Speicherstadt) and the Elbphilarmonica before taking the train back home.
The Elphi has got a very nice charm to itself, and I can't really describe it.
It should look very weird, so new and shine between all these old brick houses. But somehow, it perfectly fits in. And I love it.
Because it has such a prominent location, the government said, they have to make it for the community, i.e. make a tourist attraction out of it. And they did. You can just get yourself a free ticket (the tickets are only there to control the tourist masses) and then "go upstairs" to get the best view over the town. It amazes me each and every time I get up there again.
We also found our new favourite café (outside Göttingen), the Campus Suite right next to the Elphi. They have super tasty sandwiches there. And comfy seats. And the best hot cocoa to get you warm before the train ride home.
