  • Pittsburgh night

    2. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

I went with Mike to the second tallest learning center in the world at the University at Pittsburgh. Then we checked out a Rad day event and watched a few short films from the Ann Arbor film festival. They were so very bad. We both agreed we would never forget how horrible they were. And we laughed.Weiterlesen

  • Getting lost

    5. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

I found an app that was able to show me where free and cheap parking was. I parked at the bus station and headed off on foot. I thought I was going the right direction, but nope when I finally checked I had walked 3 miles in the wrong direction.Weiterlesen

  • Cleveland

    5. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

I wanted to make it to the federal reserve, but getting lost put a damper into that. I just walked around for a bit. I headed back to my host's, Anna and Scott, house. This host was particularly interesting. They called their place the "Couchhouse." They host about 500-1000 people every year. They are really cool and were also hosting Yasser at the same time. He's a med student from Egypt. We all talked for a while, eating and ignoring the movie that was on the tv.Weiterlesen

  • Duck tape factory

    6. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

I just happened to see this off the side if the road. I went to check it out and see if they have a tour. Turns out they did, however it was by by appointment only. They said I could join, but it was a special needs group and I didn't want to deal with that. Another time. Plus there's also the manufacturing plant in North Carolina that I could check out too.Weiterlesen

  • Ann Arbor

    6. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

I met up with Patrick and his girlfriend, Camille, from couchsurfing. They showed me around the area. We ate at Frita's. Really good food. Then we walked around. I got to see how huge UM really is. Gigantic! I wish I would have applied there and possibly gotten in. The school is amazing. I also found this really cool shop where you make your own Halloween costume, but I forget what it is called.Weiterlesen

  • Plymouth

    6. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

I met up with my host, Adam. He showed me around the downtown area. Not much going on. There was a cheap movie theater that showed older films that are not yet on DVD. They also had a cool display of homemade scarecrows for Halloween. Then We went to this neat coffee shop. We were hanging out when this guy came over and started doing awesome card magic tricks. He let me keep the card with my initials on it that he used for a few of the illusions. If you want to check him out: http://skindellmagic.com/Weiterlesen

  • Riverwalk

    7. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

My host let me know a free place to park to check out the riverwalk. I started walking around, but didn't do a lot of it. It was pretty and apparently Canada is literally right across the way. I started walking to another point of interest and to get some exercise.Weiterlesen

  • Heidelberg project

    7. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

This place was suggested from a lot of sources, however I wasn't impressed. It was actually kinda sad. It was an abandoned area that they tried to decorate with random junk to make the city more artistic maybe. It was definitely a unique place and I was a bit entertained that a lot of locals didn't even know about it.Weiterlesen

  • From the car

    7. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

I drove out to Belle Isle and looked around. Then I got a little tired of the city and looking for parking, so I took a few pictures from my car. Maybe I'll go back one day and do it right or not. I'm looking forward to getting back to nature again.Weiterlesen

  • Jiffy factory

    8. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Of coarse I'm visiting another factory. Not the most interesting tour, but super nice people. They did give out free muffins and two free boxes of Jiffy mix at the end of the tour. Always interesting to see how things are made. The really cool thing about this tour was that the president and CEO Howard "Howdy" Holmes cane and said hi to us. That was kinda cool and apparently he does that a lot.Weiterlesen

  • Back to the mundane

    8. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

I met up with my host, Kara, and we chatted for a while. She's so nice and accomplished a lot with her life already. I helped her do stone house work and went with her to help pack up her fiancee's house. It felt nice to do house work again. They also treated me to a great steak dinner. Great day.Weiterlesen

  • Corn Maze

    9. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

The weather wasn't so great all day, so Kara and Ben thought it would be nice to bring me to my first corn maze. We finished the maze in a little under 40 minutes. It was interesting and I want to go to another and play the games too.Weiterlesen

  • Ride on the track

    11. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

We also went for a lap around the track in a bus. I filmed the whole experience and will eventually load it to YouTube. I did learn that the highest speed recorded was about 241 and that now the cars are more standardized to allow the racers to compete based on skill and not technology.Weiterlesen

  • Arriving to Chicago

    12. Oktober 2015 in den USA ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

I made it to Chicago. As soon as I got to Rob's, my host, house I could tell it was going to be fun. I walked in to find Megan, another couchsurfer, had made chili and cinnamon rolls for dinner before she headed out to the Cub's game. Rob and I waited until the German girls got in to start eating. We had a really fun night talking and drinking.Weiterlesen
