    Heather recommended that I check out the old carousel from the world fair. I drove down and I had no idea how to get over there, so I stopped the first person I saw. Turns out she didn't know the area either. Her name is Amanda and we wandered together. We saw the waterfalls, garbage eating goat, and the huge flyer slide.Read more

  • Game night

    I saw this game store while I was looking for parking. Amanda and I walked over and hung out there. We got to play mancala, ticket to ride Germany, and batman fluxx.

  • Longest boardwalk

    I drive over to downtown Coeur d'Arlene and walked on the longest floating boardwalk in the world. I did feel the sway. More importantly I got new warm shoes from the local thrift store. So excited.

    While I was waiting for my host, Nadav, to get home, I figured I could finally try to resolve the problem with my Mac. I got a yummy grilled cheese and tomato there too. When I got to his house, we immediately headed out to meet some of his friends for a birthday party. They were all great people. While there I got to meet Chelsea, who was fun to talk to about traveling. Once we got home Nadav showed me some really cool acroyoga moves.Read more

  • Seattle part one

    I tried to meet up with a few different people to show me the city, but nothing worked out. I was determined to see it, so I bundled up in my rain gear and started walking. I saw the pikes market, the needle, some glass sculptures, and the sculpture garden.Read more

  • Seattle part two

    By the afternoon I was just completely tired of the rain. My shoes and pants were soaked. I kept on trekking, but decided since things were worth skipping since I was cold and wet. I saw the tallest building in Seattle, but skipped the Amazon campus. I had to see the Frye museum, but also decided to skip the underground tour. I'm still deciding on whether I want to check out the Fremont troll. If I come back out here, I would rather check out the island and whale watch.Read more

    I got to my hosts, Bary and Sandy, house and I also meet their other guests, Ben and Mary. We all sat around and talked for a while before the and I decided to go out for a walk with their dog, Trip. It was beautiful and almost immediately started to rain. Nice walk.Read more

    We all played a few games. I won apples to apples and it was kinda refreshing to not play cards against humanity. We also played a few rounds of bananagrams, which I won most rounds. I loved the night, especially winning. Even better with the double chocolate cookies and chocolate mint tea.Read more

    I went with Bary, Mary, and Ben to eat this enormous cinnamon roll for breakfast. We were doing pretty good until we got to seconds and then no more. Fun times.

    This is the view from the other home that Bary and Sandy own. Bary was trying to repair it and catch the packrat. Ben went for a kayak ride. It was cold but a cool place.

  • Portland

    I got into Portland and met with Jackie and his friend John. We wandered downtown for a little. I got a maple bacon donut that my friend Jeff suggested from VooDoo Donuts. Then they showed me the bookstore. I had fun looking at the board games. We left John there and Jackie and I walked over to the food trucks. I got the spicy chicken from a Korean truck. Not the best day because of all the rain, but different. I left and met my new host, Terry, in Oregon City.Read more

  • Columbia Gorge

    I started my day trying to go to hike the Eagle Creek, but the main highway was closed halfway there. It sent me on a detour to these gorgeous waterfalls. I hiked a bit at each stop. Four or five waterfalls and then by the time I got to the actual destination it Brendan raining. I decided the weather was no longer nice enough to hike and called it a day.Read more

    I arrived at my host, Christopher, house. He suggested I do this local trail nearby. It was nice, but I was rushing back because I ran out of daylight. I made it to my car right before I absolutely needed to use a light to see where I was going.Read more

    I started my day at old town. Cute little boardwalk and shops. I was hoping to find a coupon book, but no such luck. I was also told to skip the sea lion caves and go take a ride on the sand dunes. If I return, I'm definitely going out to the sand dunes.Read more

  • Sea lion cave

    I headed out for the day towards the sea lion cave. Talk about a huge disappointment. Not only were there no sea lions in the cave, they put bars in front of the viewing area. It felt like I was in a large cage. There were some sea lions playing in the water outside. You could see them with binoculars and hear them barking at each other. No good pictures though.Read more

  • Tide pools

    My friend John suggested I check out the tide pools. It was the most fun I had on the west coast thus far. Between seeing the ocean again and climbing all over the rocks, I was having a blast. I thought I was getting super lucky getting closer to the waves until I got soaked head to toe. Even That was fun, tho a bit chilly after a while.Read more

    I went to the other side of the tide pools and got to see the sky start to change colors. Also the trees looked liked they had been permanently attacked by the wind. This dude wasn't as much fun. Not as much climbing involved.Read more

    I drove to the top because the ranger said it was the best view, and he was right. He said if there were any whales to see, at the tides you could only see the spray, but at the top you could see them coming. Very nice and cold.Read more

  • Giant Spruce

    I talked to the ranger and he suggested I hike out to see this 600 year giant spruce tree that I could sit inside of. I got there and yup it's huge. I totally sat inside. Took my selfie since I was the only person out there. It was cool beans.Read more

  • Beginning the sunset

    I stayed driving towards the lighthouse and keep pulling over to snow and take pictures of the beautiful sunset on the west coast. One of many I know. It's so pretty.

    I hiked up to the lighthouse and saw it done is light, but I was still just amazed by the breathtaking sunset. By the time I got back to my car I had to use the flashlight app on my phone to see where I was going.Read more

  • Three trails

    I met up with Spider. He lives so close to my other host, but couldn't host because his wife just had knee surgery. We went out for the day hiking. We enjoyed the sand dunes, Eel lake and Marie lake. We went out with his dog Rosy. Nice hikes. A little education about mushrooms. Ending the day with a nice meal.Read more
