  • Yale

    September 14, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

I was on my way to East Hampton, CT and got distracted by going to visit Yale. It's kinda lame, but I wanted to see the school after watching Gilmore Girls for so many years. I took the tour, learned some interesting facts, and now think I'm going to visit Harvard as well to compare them.Read more

  • Gillette Castle

    September 15, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

I started the day off not wanting to get out of bed because the brisk weather had begun. None the less, I got up and eventually explored this really estate of William Gillette, the first actor to represent Sherlock Holmes on stage. He had his quirks. One being having two bullfrogs as pets that he constantly had to replace because one of his sixteen cats would find another use for them.Read more

  • More about the castle

    September 15, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Mr. Gillette designed the home while he lived on his house boat, Aunt Polly, and decided on the location of the castle because of the great view it provided. He also made an addition to the castle to include a gallery, library, and separate quarters for his family. I learned all this by constantly asking questions since the admission to the castle did not include a guided tour.Read more

  • Salmon river trail

    September 15, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

As usual I find a trail to hike and get a bit lost. This time it turned out for the better. I found this old rusted out car that someone left behind and a small waterfall. I also got to pet a few dogs on my way back and of coarse the great view.Read more

  • Submarine Force Library and Museum

    September 16, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

I found this place in my Google searching. Museum was ok. Going inside the submarine super awesome. I was astonished by how small a lot of the living quarters are. Yes I know it makes sense when you think about it, but seriously being there, it was tiny. I would never want to be sleeping there and accidentally wake up with a bad dream because I would get a pounding headache as well. And there was a pinning ceremony, so lots of guys in uniform.Read more

  • Sitting by the bay

    September 16, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

I met my host, Kelly, and we headed out to his secret spot in Warren to hang out on the bay. We sat talked and I dipped my feet in the water, but didn't have shoes to go all the way in. Not to mention a bit chilly for me. Oh yea we had an awesome lunch at La Lupita. Delicious and cheap food.Read more

  • Bunker Hill

    September 19, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

I started where I left off yesterday. I climbed up all 294 steps to get to the top and look at the view of the city. Then I headed out to the Harvard campus. I drove around a while, but not very interesting without a tour to put it into context. And apparently no one gives Harvard tours on Saturdays.Read more

  • Salem

    September 19, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Since I walked about 25 miles the past two days, I decided I wanted to take it easy today. I took the car and started to explore. I thought I would find a tour for the Harvard area, but no such luck. I drive around the Cambridge area for a while and then headed out to Salem. I know my view of the city is very skewed because there was just so much traffic. I was driving about a mile every ten minutes. Not fun at all. When I was getting ready to leave I checked to see if I could do the walking tour of Beacon Hill, but they were all booked. That's a tour I would like to come back and do sometime.Read more
