    I got to Gordon, my host, house and he suggested I check out the loop. All the parks and beaches. This was the first one I got to. I walked around and visited just about every dog I came across.

    Kelp

    I stopped a few people on the beach until I finally found a local to tell me what was all over the beach. The answer after a storm there is kelp. Huge strings of kelp. I took a picture of my foot for comparison.En savoir plus

    Cape Arago

    I drove through Charleston all the way down to the cape. I saw sealions at the viewpoint. I got to see them a bit closer when I got to the tip, but still not good enough to take a picture.

    Gone crabbing

    Gordon offered to take me out to catch crabs and I jumped at the opportunity. It was so cool and easy to catch. We put chicken in the traps and within the hour we had plenty to eat. We caught Redrock and Dungeness crabs. The were both really good, but I prefer the Dungeness. They were easier to crack and eat. Fun to go crabbing. Looking forward to catching them again.En savoir plus

    Bandon

    I drove down about 25 miles to the next coastal town and enjoyed the boardwalk area. I wanted to check out the art studio made with found objects on the beach, but they were closed for the remainder of the day. I did see all the great wood sculptures and taste ask the yummy candies at the Cranberry Sweets store. Then I headed to the of the grid house that my hosts, Scott and Steve, live on. We had pizza and played card games. They were so competitive and it was so funny to watch.En savoir plus

    Yurt

    I met up with Paul, my new host, and his kids last night so I can say I've stayed in a yurt. It was basically a fancy tent or a really low key cabin. They were nice. I left and headed south to stay with Paul again at his home near the redwoods.En savoir plus

    Beach time

    I hung out on the beach to see my first sunset in California. I was a little chilly, but I had my music playing and chatting with a few people trying to make them jealous that they are not traveling with me to pass the time. A pretty way to spend my time.En savoir plus

    Redwoods

    Paul and I started the day by walking two trails in redwood. The trees were huge! I took a few pictures to show how small I am compared to them. Nice trails.

    Sealions

    I hung out with Paul and he showed me around again. We went to a few thrift stores and then to the harbor. I got to see a bunch super close. I felt bad for the one who had a gash on its fin. We also saw a few whales out in the ocean. It was a fun day.En savoir plus

    Drive thru tree

    I was driving to my next destination and saw the signs for the tourist trap, but decided to go anyways. I can't complain. It was kinda fun. Giving my car character, she is driving all over the country and note thru a tree. I got a few pictures taken, but the best part was watching to see if cars would fit. One truck tried and backed out right before it would have gotten wedged in.En savoir plus

    Walk in the park

    I met my hosts, Jess, Phin, and Autumn. We talked for a while and then went over to the local park to walk their really big puppy dogs. Pretty park. We had a fun night of homemade pizza and games.

    Coit tower

    I walked up the never-ending stairs to the tower. I arrived at the perfect time to join the tour about the murals. I was allowed to see the rare murals on the second floor. Very cool.
