Today we covered six locks along the Erie Canal, rising 196’ and landing in Schenectady around 3pm. The cruise was good but it was a lot of hopping between work and locking. When we arrived at the marina we realized we missed lunch and were both whipped and starving. Quick snack and a nap and we were off to visit with Peter and Amae. Peter left us a truck at the marina so we can get around. They were pouring concrete for a patio and had a gaggle of help. The marina we are staying at is part of a new casino development. We did a walk thru to get to some easy food. Neither of us are gamblers. No temptation. Czytaj więcej

PodróżnikI forget which town and the lock number, but when you get to the two locks that are together one opens into the other, and I believe it’s the second lock that you can dock for the night behind it, make sure you’re not holding right over a valve, I ended up over a valve as I parked towards the upper gate and caught some turbulence in the way of air burbles where i couldn't hold on anymore. Worse lock experience I've ever had in all my lockages'

PodróżnikWe are actually headed back to the Hudson to go up Champlain but I suspect that would hold true in some other locks as well.
