  • Petrified Forest Park

    13. mai 2019, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Heres a state park on 12. Millions of years ago it was a forest. Sometimes the trees fell and were buried. Some time ago a nearby volcano erupted, adding tons of minerals to the soil. This made petrification possible.Les mer

  • Restaurant

    13. mai 2019, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

This place was built in the 30s as a dance hall and gas pump. It was sold postwar to a family that made it a restaurant and added motel rooms soon after.

  • Road to Zion

    14. mai 2019, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

The road that connects to Zion from the east is stupendous. It was made in the 20s to dazzle visitors on their way to the new park (before it was a national park.) It runs along cliffs and through mountains right in the middle of these wild geological formations. There is a set of switchbacks that drop you more than 1500 feet and give you this dazzling view across huge mountains and cliffs, all multicolored. No way I could get pictures there. The temperature is 20 degrees warmer than Bryce.

Pic 2 was a model of Zion's landscape but I couldn't figure out how to photograph the part with this road.

  • Road videos 2

    14. mai 2019, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

I forgot. I've seen plenty of animals to this point, like cranes, hawks, mule deer, salamanders... there were mountain goats by the road here. I didn't get a picture of them because I've been in a buffalo jam, so....

Video 2 is the small tunnel. The big one is over a mile.

  • Quick tour

    14. mai 2019, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Zion is pretty much one road through the length of the canyon. Their shuttle has recorded narration when going outbound and tells you about the geology (limestone), people (Mormons), and wildlife (don't feed them.) Exactly like the Colorado River did the Virgin River has been eroding this area for millions of years. Again, the area is much too grandiose to get in pictures. By the time I got out at noon it was very busy.Les mer

  • Sedona

    16. mai 2019, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

I've heard from multiple people that Sedona is really beautiful. The landscape is inspiring. In the north there is a road that goes into the mountains. Its much cooler, full of national forest campgrounds, trees, and great views. I think one thing that makes Sedona so attractive is very strict, well thought out zoning laws. All the houses and businesses blend in well and everything looks continuous.Les mer

  • Hoover Dam

    17. mai 2019, Forente stater ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

I like Art Deco buildings. I got to poke my head in Chrysler when I was working in Manhattan. Its an icon of art deco opulence. The last video is the neighborhood behind the hotel I used that day.
