    So excited about this holiday. Up at 3am ready to go at 4am. Good journey down to Heathrow in fact arrived too early for car park! Checked luggage in, breakfast and to the plane. In fact everything was going great until 2 people failed to make the plane so the staff had to unload their luggage leaving us with a delay then missing our slot to take off. Loads of in-flight entertainment so settled down to watch the new film "the banshees of Inisherin" with Colin farrallWeiterlesen

    Finally arrived

    Landed safely at Hong-Kong Airport , met by a lovely Chinese lady who explained we had missed our next transfer flight due to our delay but had arranged another flight in a few minutes, however that flight was to Bangkok! Whisked us through security bypassing the queues, in fact the plane was waiting for us! 7 of us altogether! Landed at Bangkok, again met by lovely Chinese lady who again whisked us through airport to the plane to phuket! Bad news was no luggage as no time to unload from plane therefore would arrive next day! Oh well , mark did have shorts in rucksack! No clean pants though ! Driver waiting for us at airport to take us to lovely hotel , cape sienna hotel, Kamala beach. Quick shower and off to night market sampling the food for our dinner. Mark also stocked up with tshirts! Back to hotel as shattered to find cases in our room . 😴 good resultWeiterlesen

    Kamala beach

    Good night sleep then down to amazing breakfast. Cereals, toast, freshing cooked any type of egg, bacon, cheeses, hams, fruits, pancakes, and of course curry and rice if you fancy it for breakfast! Walked to a smaller beach rather than the main beach. Surrounded by birds! Bee-eaters, pretty yellow birds, red breasted birds and watching sea/fish Eagle carrying and dropping a fish then retrieving it from the sea. Amazing. Now to research birds of Thailand . Then out to dinner at local restaurant, Thai red curry for mark and Thai green curry for me. Delicious 😋 mark off early tomorrow for deep sea fishing trip. Watch this space!Weiterlesen

    No major big game fish show up for our troll in the Andaman sea - however a few varieties were caught when 'bottom bouncing' to provide dinner ,cooked on the boat, the nicest being my Red Grouper. Sally spending the day relaxing back at base by the pool.Weiterlesen

    On the beach

    Took hotel shuttle down to the local beach and walked right to the other end near the rocks . Tried some snorkeling and wow it was like being in a aquarium! Fantastic! At one time we were surrounded by thousands of fish I thought we were in a David Attenborough documentary ! Now need to research fish names. Later in evening we had our complimentary Thai dinner at the hotel, delicious. Food has been remarkable.Weiterlesen

    Coral Island up early

    Up early for a trip to coral island , 15 minutes by speedboat south of phuket. The typical tropical island. Madness trying to get through patong beach and pleased we didn't stay there ! Beautiful island but very disappointed with the snorkeling especially after yesterday at our local beach. Lunch included. Highlight was watching the hornbill in the trees above us. Oh, of course, good fishing for mark . Back to hotel for complimentary cocktails and we brought some tapas. Last night here, off to koh lak tomorrow.Weiterlesen

    Next hotel

    Bang on time we were picked up to travel to mai hotel koh lak. What a large resort but we'll set out. Ideal for families. Went for walk along the beach and a snorkel Unfortunately on this west coast the visibility is poor unlike that in the previous sheltered kamala bay. Stopped for dinner at one of the beachfront restaurants watching the sunset. Back on the balcony of our room a mysterious loud animal noise made me run inside shouting for mark!     Relaxing day

    Thought we would have a day around one of several swimming pools at the resort and decided to go to the quiet adult pool. Unfortunately we encountered the noisiest aussie family including nanna with the pacemaker! Fortunately they moved at lunch so we had a peaceful afternoon! Evening was refreshed by tropical rainfall for all of 10 minutes ! Have you guessed the noise yet!Weiterlesen

    Trip to koh lak Town

    Took the free shuttle bus to the nearest town for a spot of retail therapy only to find it too hot to walk around ! Found a beach nearby for a swim. Sat on beach watching a pair of exotic kingfishers feeding their young in a hole in the tree above us with tiny fish and large insects. Then one sat on beach right in front of us. Had massage then back on shuttle to hotel just in time for dinner!Weiterlesen

    Walk along beach

    Went for walk along the beach past a few beach restaurants only to come across a river mouth and the tide was in so we had to cross via a rickety bridge! Spent the day swimming and reading. On the way back luckily we were able to wade through the water . Stopped the local hotel restaurant for our complimentary lunch (at 5pm) them watched the sunset.Weiterlesen

    Just another couple of chill out days! Had a change and walked to the North of hotel. Nearly empty beaches . Mark gave up on fishing too hot and no fish! Spot the blue/green lizard climbing the tree! Last meal on the beach followed by Thai pancake!Weiterlesen

    Picked up this morning in lovely air con , leather seated minibus for onward transfer to the sofitel Hotel at krabi. Just the two of us! 2 1/2hr journey through varying countryside. Quick explore then watched the sunset and the display of bright lights on the squid fishing boats in the distance.Weiterlesen

    Over 400+ steps!

    Hong island

    Up early for our boat trip to Hong Island. A 15 minute speed boat away. What a beautiful place. Did a nature trial through the tropical forest then the 400+ metal steps to the observation tower perched on the highest point 360 degrees view! Then back down to recuperate on the pristine white sand beach, then snorkeling amongst the fish in the bay. Lots of beautiful butterflies 🦋 everywhere. A brilliant day.Weiterlesen

    Mark sat on the balcony this morning as I was showering and came face to face with a monkey. Don't know who was the most surprised , Mark or the monkey🐒. He was only a metre or so away sitting on a ledge! Morning round the pool followed by afternoon tea which was included in our package.Weiterlesen

    Unfortunately, the last day has arrived so down to the beach to do the final snorkelling . After that a game of pool 🎱 followed by an energetic table tennis competition. 🏓 then a swim in the beautiful pool we have here. A complimentary cocktail 🍸 then dinner out.Weiterlesen
