Dean Barker-RogersShe had travelled these as a singer in a band leaving her friends and family in Ireland including her two young boys on the dream of building a huge future for them all, the band went from strength to strength and she moved her boys over and then suddenly everything crashed. Their popularity wained and they struggled to get gigs, she lived on the breadline trying to keep a roof over the heads of her boys and food in their bellies, she began working as a waitress in a restaurant favoured by the famous where she worked 6 days & long shifts. She was diagnosed with cancer at 64 and the medical bills were crippling, the only way to keep her head above water was to work through her illness (by now her youngest son had hit on hard times and become alcohol dependant) anyway......with less than $2000 in the bank and medical bills building she could see no alternative but to leave NYC and head back to Ireland where she had left as a young girl with a big dream, on her way to work that morning she bought a scratch card and guess what? She won the jackpot of $1Million! ❤️
