    Forty-two kilometers from Mytilini on the southern coast of Lesvos, Plomari, the ouzo capital of Greece, is built amphitheatrically near the sea and is the second largest town on the island after Mytilini. This is where the famous Barbayannis Ouzo comes from as well as several other smaller labels like the excellent Ouzo Giannatsi, both distilled in the traditional method. Whether it's from drinking the extra strong ouzo that many of the inhabitants seem to favor or for some other reason, Plomarian's have the reputation of being a little bit crazy and enjoying life to its fullest.Baca lagi

    Chios Chora

    The town of Chios, called “Chora” is the largest town of the island with a population of 29.000. It is the administrative, cultural, educational and commercial centre of the island, as well as its most important port.

    It is built in the middle of the east coast, from where the Asia Minor coastline is visible. The town’s location indicates its close relationship with Ionia. Archaeological evidence indicates that the island has been inhabited since 6.000 B.C. The town of Chios was built by the Ionians a little before 1.000 B.C. During its 3.000 – year history the town has been through periods of prosperity as well as decline.

    Nowadays Chios is a vivid town with various economic, maritime and commercial activities. It is also the island’s cultural center, as most schools and libraries and the Homerion Cultural Center are situated there. Despite its transformations due to the 1822 catastrophe, the 1881 earthquake and extensive post-war rebuilding, the town has a lot of sites of architectural interest not only in the center but also in several of the neighbourhoods.     Oinousses - a forgotten paradise

    We arrived at Oinousses. Again, with a history of thousands of years and its famous seamanship, Oinousses, the island of shipowners, is known for its noble and serene aura. Despite its small size, the insular complex of Oinousses offers the visitors natural beauty and important sights, such as the Maritime Museum and the Annunciation Monastery with Foti Kontoglou’s hagiography.     Fourni Korseon

    After 8hours of waves, wind, sun and dolphins we arrived at Fourni main Island. Fourni Korseon is a group of small islands between Ikaria, Samos and Patmos. Only the two largest islands - Fourni and Thymena along with the smaller eastern island Agios Minas are inhabited. Fourni is a place that conquers you with its simplicity and where life runs smoothly. It is the perfect place for all travelers who are looking for calm and an authentic Greek everyday life. The island is known for its unspoiled natural beauty, crystal-clear waters, and traditional way of life. Due to the engagement of its inhabitants with fishing, the island’s cuisine is also renowned for its fresh seafood and traditional dishes. Fourni has craggy but fertile hills, a walkable serpentine ridge, with views down to coves and to more distant islands, an acropolis site, and dozens of scattered chapels, churches and monasteries.     Agathonisi

    The trip from Fourni to Agathonísi with 6 Beaufort was really exciting. (Greek: Αγαθονήσι) is a small Greek island and municipality located at the northernmost point of the Dodecanese in Greece. It is surrounded by many smaller islands and is home to two villages, both inland; Megalo Chorio ("Big Village"), and Mikro Chorio ("Small Village"). Between them is the small settlement of Agios Georgios (Saint George), which forms the island's only harbor and consists of a few hotels and restaurants. The island is also locally known as Gaidaro ("Donkey"), or by its ancient name Tragea. I really like how virgin this place is.Baca lagi

    In mathematics, the Pythagoras' theorem is a fundamental relation in Euclidean geometry between the three sides of a right triangle. It states that the area of the square whose side is the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares on the other two sides. Τοday we arrived in the birthplace of Pythagoras. The village is called Pythagorion and it is in Samos Island. Very crowded and tourist but very historical and important.Baca lagi

    Marathokampos

    Marathokampos is a small village, south of Samos. It has a small marina and few traditional houses and on its north side, the high mountain of Kerkis is really hugging the village as being its kid. When the principal wind in Aegean Sea, also known as Meltemi, meets Kerkis mountain, it goes over it, and then it rapidly accelerates and expands in the bay in front of Marathokabos creating very strong gusts challenging our sailing skills 😁.Baca lagi

    Patmos the sacred island

    A 4hours trip from Samos with a wind scale 6 and some nasty waves led us to Patmos.

    Patmos Island is globally known for its religious legacy, as it is the place where John the Evangelist (aka John the Theologian) wrote the Book of Revelation. Over the recent years, it has also become a destination preferred by nature lovers and other holidaymakers who seek to experience this location’s spiritual atmosphere in a setting of beautiful land & seasscapes

    In 1981, Greece declared Patmos a “Sacred Island'', and in 1999 UNESCO included The Historic Centre (Chora) with the Monastery of Saint-John the Theologian and the Cave of the Apocalypse in its World Heritage Site List. Patmos is also part of the COESIMA network, as one of the seven most important pilgrimage sites in Europe.    Baca lagi

    Calypsos island - Leipsoi

    Leipsoi is a chain of small islands, islets, and rocks, which dot the Southeastern Aegean and form the northern part of the Dodecanese group of islands. Leipso or Leipsoi is the name of the largest island in the Leipsoi chain, and it’s located between the bigger Patmos and Leros Islands. It’s a lesser-known destination that we absolutely recommend to you for your next summer holiday trip, especially if you prefer relaxing in a place of pristine nature, away from the crowds of other popular destinations.

    Greek mythology has it that during his return trip to Ithaca, Odysseus was shipwrecked here on Nymph Calypso’s island, who refused to let him go for seven years! The island has been inhabited since prehistoric times, yet today only one village exists, built by Ilias, a Cretan guy who arrived there in the second half of the 17th c. and settled on the hill slope where present day Chora is situated.     Artemis' favorite island

    Leros boasts natural harbours, coves and inlets protected from the winds, beautiful sandy or pebbly beaches – small and big ones – ideal for swimming or for water sports and picturesque towns. Some of them stand out among other island villages in the Aegean, on account of their urban planning and architecture. Lakki is such a case and this is where we stay tonight; the town was named Porto Lago by the Italians who built it about a hundred years ago, during the thirty-year long Italian Rule on the Dodecanese Islands (1912 – 1943). The architectural style on the buildings is called the Italian Rationalism, a popular trend in the twenties and thirties. Lakki possesses the deepest natural harbour in the entire Mediterranean Basin! In Agia Marina, Lepida, Lakki and other villages you will see beautiful neoclassical houses built by wealthy citizens as their residences, which were later used as administration buildings.

    In Greek mythology, Artemis was the goddess of wild animals, vegetation, and the hunt. This fertile land of green low hills & plains was her favourite island, and she was much revered by the locals, who built her temple in the Partheni area, in the north. Today, the local agricultural produce includes olives (+oil), citrus, figs, other fruit and vegetables.     Cute Telendos

    Telendos is cute. It belongs to Dodecanese and it is only 0.6miles from Kalymnos coast. The island is approximately semi-circular in shape, consisting of a single, steep, flat-top mountain whose sides plunge directly into the sea. The only flat land is at the southern tip of the island, which is where the only settlement is located. There are no cars on the island, and in 2021 the population stood at 66 people. Telendos was connected to Kalymnos and was separated separated from it in the 6th century AD following a series of earthquakes. Crazy right? You wake up one day and you see sea in order to go to the central square of your village 😅.Baca lagi

    Kalymnos Chora

    Kalymnos, the world renowned island of traditional sponge harvesting. Following WW2 this was the only Greek sponge trade business that survived and thrived. The island’s particular landscape makes it a favourable destination for alternative tourism: climb giant vertical rocks; explore centuries - old ship wrecks that lie in the sea-bed; discover enchanting caves; and visit wonderful beaches and picturesque island villages.     We did 1000nm!

    After almost 2 months and 1000 nautical miles, we arrived in Kos Island. It is full season now, and everything is super crowded, captains are fighting in the ports and beaches, people sre nervous with the heat but still I would say it is nice. I am not gonna show any beautiful beaches from Kos, cause I think these go together with some isolation which does not exist here..Baca lagi
